i truely hope so. i mean psx1.13 has come such along way, and i could only hope to see a fully woking emulator other then bleem (which only 98 can use).
what progress has it made so far? why is it not shown in the forums the changes being made and all that nice stuff. i think it would put alot of peoples mind's to rest to get an update notice once in awhile
If it doesn't say in the forum, then no-one knows, except pSX Author himself. He's always worked on that basis.
Now, since you obviously haven't bothered to read any of the forum documentation, I suggest you do so before posting again - in particular, Known Requests (DON'T REQUEST THESE!!!), especially where it says
Release date for update on version, game compatibility, etc Basically, any question that involves asking "when" should not be asked. It's more a matter of respect than anything else. pSX Author has a life like everybody else. When he wants to release the next version, he will. Same goes for implementation of specific game compatibility, bug fixes, and more features. Reporting problems or making requests is fine (as long as they're not previously reported/requested). However, *don't* ask any questions about "when", as you'll most certainly not get an answer.
Otherwise you'll be looking at a ban.

No disrespect; However I did read the rule's and thus I worded my question carefully. My question wasn't a matter of "when", yet a matter of "what" and "why".
Further more, there is nothing tangible to me breaking a rule. With this rule it was very specific of the word "when", or am I mistaken? No I am not, the evidence is within the rule itself.
"Basically, any question that involves asking "when" should not be asked." & "However, *don't* ask any questions about "when", as you'll most certainly not get an answer."
definition of when: at what time or period? how long ago? how soon?
Questions that would break that rule, would be questions such as: When will it be released?, How much longer do we need to wait?, or How soon will the updates be released in the forums?
I believe none of these were questions asked; there for how could I be "looking at a ban" as you put it.
I can't see how my questions even bordered breaking the rules. Clearly in your forum documentation, you made that rule specific to a time or period only. There for your warning hasn't any subsistence to my post what so ever.
However if indeed it bothered you that much. Then I can only offer you this. I am truly sorry and I will make sure it will never happen again.
Take care and have a wonderful day.

I must admit, by now I think it's becoming a fairly legitimate concern to wonder if, not when, we might see another version of pSX. After all, according to the board pSX Author himself hasn't logged in for over 2 months. And the last version, v1.13, came out just over a year ago.

Well the thing is... we already know there's progress that's been made for v1.14. My thought is that, if pSX Author stopped working on it, I'd imagine that he would've polished his current work on v1.14 and released it. I certainly don't think he'd leave us all hanging, even with this being a personal project of his and not something necessarily for the people.
I am surprised that we've gone this long without a new release though. I've been watching the time go by, but it's still hard to believe it's been over a year already (though I visit the wiki almost daily, so I'm reminded of it every time the page loads... lol).
That said, I do hope we hear something soon. It feels like time is going by, and that less and less is likely to happen as it passes, like a slowly forgotten project. Not putting anything out there except my feeling on it though, so please don't take that the wrong way.
So the time flies. Given that, it's no surprise that the forum activity has gone down noticably as well.
But it is what it is.
Wow, seems like my thread has some life to it. Yeah i realized its pushing a year since 1.12 & 1.13 has been released. I don't know how many of you feel the way I do on the subject...
But my feelings are... I don't care for a ps2 emulator at this point. Just finish one thing at a time, and then when there is a perfect psx emu build from there. No need making 2 buggy projects at once its more work then needed.
ps.
It is what it is... I hate that quote Its like saying "I don't know and I don't care." anyway had to say it drives me nuts LOL xD
Your name is Mika. That wouldn't happen to be hmong for (white people) would it?

no offense, but last time i checked it was summer. maybe psx author is on vacation? everybody needs a break from time to time.
there are lots of better things to do than write code, when it's nice and hot outside.
"Dass ein paar der hauptberuflichen Hülsenpacker zu einer klareren Sprache fanden, zeigte einmal mehr ihre Ignoranz gegenüber dem richtigen Bildausschnitt."
That's one thing I almost mentioned myself, but even on vacation I tend to drop in to check my email and bunch of forums once a week, if I can. On the other hand, maybe Author is on a internet free vacation. I should take one myself, quite honestly.

The quote means pretty much the same to me too. To not care and to know there is nothing that can be done, are two very different things (and many times, separates intelligent people from those who aren't so).
PS2 emulation has been a topic widely discussed around here in that particular aspect ("want" vs "don't want", and the pros and cons of each side). As stated before, as far as pSX Author has said thus far, he hasn't given up on PS1 emulation by any means. I figure it must be rather refreshing for him to do something different from what he had been doing for such a long time with the emulator.
And keep in mind... pSX Author isn't some 20-something year old programmer. So summer may very well not mean "vacation" to him as much as it would to younger people. And while I could imagine him taking a nice long vacation every once in a while, I couldn't imagine that the vacation would last nearly this long. I take this more to mean that there's been other things he has to do and hasn't had time for this personal project of his. He has no obligations to pSX or this forum. He might've very well hit a road block in the project and decided to take a long break from it to concentrate on more important things in his life. Either way, there isn't much use for thoughtful speculation on the topic. He'll come back eventually, and we'll find out at that point what's been going on.

Honestly, I'd rather stay inside a nice cool house and spend my days programming than roast outside in 90+% humidity (and temperatures at least as high)... especially if I had something worthwhile to program.
Okay as of now I think there is no more to say. Every post has been around the same lines train of thought, Which to me is such a comedy.
I would love nothing more to see this project continue; yet I have a small fear that Sony will shut the emulator down. We have seen it happen to other projects.. or even worse get litigation out of the experience.
I believe it will be sometime late this year or early next year before we see anything from him.
@ Gamesoul Master. Are you calling me unintelligent? T_T

rosevenom: Definitely not. I was meaning people who *feel* that way about things, not about how a person interprets it. Like in life, you know?
Sony won't shut it down. They have no legal right to, as long as nothing illegal is happening. Certainly a case could be made that they could be losing some small sum of money from this (even kept legal... playing PS1 games you already own on the PC instead of playing them via their download service). But either way... there'd be quite a bit of warning (by a change in the wind kind of way) before any kind of action would be taken against anybody.
