Ok, I'm recently trying to go thru God of War on the PS2 (great game BTW. Frustrating, but great). But after trying OH SO MANY TIMES to pass the "Hades blade column" part, I got so nervous that I bit the left analog stick off of my Dual Shock 2... Now that I broke a controller because of a game, I'm wondering: why do we play games that make us stressed? Recently I'm not well, I'm getting nervous more often than usual, but this was ridiculous: the freaking controller is quite expensive here in Brazil and I just broke it. Of course I won't play the game anymore for a while. I REALLY have to calm down. What about you guys, ever did something similar?

there were some occasions where i wanted to break the controller (or gameboy) when i got frustrated with a game, the most recent one is Trials HD. but it was quite satisfying, smashing the controller on the carpet, stress relieving... one of my old snes controller has teeth marks on it because a friend beat me at street fighter 2 all the time and i simply couldn't stand it anymore. i look at it as gamingscars luckily all the controllers still work fine.

Well I've never been frustrated enough to do any damage to my gaming equipment, but I've played some frustrating games before.
I like when a game can frustrate me a bit though. I consider it as part of the challenge. Of course, when a game frustrates me because of something not related to a challenge (like a game where the AI seems to be reading your mind), I find myself having to either work through it (as it usually ends up being bad luck more than anything else) or put down the game for a while... lol.

I'll definitely admit to this one, one game that I have been playing recently is Star Ocean: The Last Hope for the Xbox 360. I'm currently on the second disc, and without a doubt stuck on an enemy that has me completely baffled. The enemies that I have encountered on this are known as Phantoms, and the only known possible way to take them down is by increasing your Beat "B" Rage level to Max so you can stay in Rush Mode infinitely while in battle. But, the only issue with that is none of my characters are currently using that Beat level. So, every time I rush into battle I always get pummeled, and stagger as to how overwhelming my enemy really is.
