Please excuse me but i read all the Faq and Help section but could not find an answer. It says that the PSX resolution is the same like the original PS1 Hardware. This Emulator unlike other Emus uses the native Resolution of a PS1 as i understood so i wanted to know what the native resolution is exactly.
First when PSX goes to the Bios, the Resolution is 640x512 w,hen it is showing the sony logo, then when it goes into some games it changes to a lower res.
Final Fantasy 7 is showing in 320x256x16 resolution if i use the TAB key in the game. Grandia is 320x240.
Playing around with full screen and the Settings about Res in NTSC and Pal didnt change the resolution that is showing when i press TAB.
My Question is, is the real native resolution of these 2 games really so low ? 320xXXX or is it 640x480 or something like this at least and i only made a config mistake? Thank you.

Nope, the resolutions pSX states are the actual resolutions used in-game. Some games will use higher resolutions (640x480 is a common example) for things that require it (usually menus, with the smaller text used). The only reason it doesn't really get noticed on a real PS1 is because TVs themselves use low resolutions (talking about non-HD TVs of course), and they have built-in filtering to smooth things out more (the bilinear filtering offered in pSX is to give a similar type of filtering to TVs). Filtering can only do so much though, when you're playing a game that renders 320x240 graphics on a 1200x800 monitor resolution... But to more directly answer your question... Yes, the resolutions really are that low (pSX really is telling you the native resolution of the game at all times), and no, you made no mistakes with configuration.

The native resolution of a PlayStation game can be any one of these:
256, 320, 368 (occasionally 384 e.g. SF Zero 3 but not X-Men vs SF which was shrunk to 368), 512 and 640 across 240, 256, 480, 512 down
Tekken 3 uses a strange pixel area of 368x480. Regardless of the screen area, the aspect ratio is still 4:3 for all PlayStation games.
The 'other' emulators (namely ePSXe) actually do the right job when it comes to screen size; it's the output of the graphics which is modified by the plugins AFAIK. Pete's plugins are the most well known ones to do this by resizing both 2D items and 3D polygons (actually everything is rendered in 3D on a PSX; 2D stuff is 1 pixel in depth as such) to fit X screen width/height and therefore support a 'higher resolution'. If you were to find some really old plugins like Kazzuya's or E}I{'s (pronounced EZ?) software plugins you'll find they do render the correct aspect ratio. Dr.Hell's plugin does too.
