Why does the Linux version use more cpu power? I tried playing Castlevania on both the Linux 1.11 and the Windows 1,11. On the windows version the cpu went about 18-35% Where as the Linux Version went 50 -72% with the same settings. The Game Id is SLUS-00067 was played as a cue/bin iso on a dual boot system with Ubuntu edgy 6.10 and Windows XP Home Edition. Systems Specs
Ati x550 256mb Amd Athon 64 +3200 939pin 512 Consair Value Selet Msi K8M890M-V
BTW Does anyone know how to fix the video tearing on linux??

Try enabling VSync is the usual fix for tearing, solis. No, I hadn't noticed the Linux version using more CPU power, although the Linux version is slower than the Windows one in borderline games. One thing I noticed when I started using the Linux version was that it was actually running better on a machine with a Rage Fury Pro videocard and a 1400+ CPU than on a machine with a 9700 Pro and a 3200+ CPU. I finally realised that the reason was that I was simply running the generic videocard driver on the slower machine, while I'd installed the fglrx driver in Synaptic on the faster machine. This isn't the best way to do it - when I removed the fglrx driver from Synaptic, the faster machine ran pSX as it should, faster than the slower one. Then I found the wiki for the ATI Linux driver and installed it following their step-by-step guide and it was much faster. Don't know if that has any relevance - you are using an ATI card.

If you mean VSync in pSX it is on but, i see a z like line when i play a game with fmv and in 2d games i see the screen does not scroll at the same time. There is a small delay. I have the ati propietary driver 8.35 installed which i installed manually. Other than that the speed on the emulator is just as fast as windows xp for me.
