well hello people, iv been using epsxe for about 5 years now and all those years iv wondered why they were never able to reproduce the image quality of the psx console (TV) which pSX can. this is like a revolutionary advance in technology of emulation after being a loyal fan of epsxe for such a long time pSX is by far superiour to epsxe in emulation of the playstation console and choice/taste, yet there are 3 things still bothering me: 1. it seems that pSX has a coat of glass of 2 inch making the image somewhat blurry, maybe its because i havent been close to a TV for years, but even though i have no right to complain i just want to know if it is somewhat bury compare to the console version 2. the controller input, i always use the num1 num2 num3 num4 keys for the X, sqaure, traingle, circle bottons and epsxe was the only program i know that let users use the num keys. i was just wondering if there was a way of using those keys for pSX too 3. resident evil 3 wont go past the 'this game contains scenes of explicit gore and violence...' screen, what could possibly be wrong? i just stumbled apon this emulator a few hours ago while trying to play my new resident evil 4 on the PCSX2 which is working but at a snail pase thanks OMG its 2007!!! didnt even notice for a few days

dudethedreamer, I'm not sure quite what you mean by a
I have to say that the graphics on pSX are the clearest, bar none, that I've seen on a Playstation or any Playstation emulator. And that includes a Playstation being played via a direct video link into a capture card, and thence being displayed on the monitor - and even monitors much worse than mine are head and shoulders above the resolution and clarity of a TV set. Would you care to elaborate?
You can set whatever keys you like for the controller buttons. Just go to the Controller configuration pad and assign them. Two words of warning, though: first, also go to the Misc configuration tab and reassign any keys set there which you want to use for your controller to something else, otherwise you'll get those actions as well as the controller button's action. This includes several number pad keys.
And second, remember that certain keys, the top row F keys and the Escape key are already preassigned and you can't change those. Any of the regular keys are fair game, though.
Resident Evil 3 is in the Compatibilty list as playing Ok in v1.10 for the NTSC US version (SLUS_009.23), but with sounds cutting out - v1.7 is recommended, and Ok for the PAL version (SLES_025.29) in v1.8 (no v1.10 report?).
It's difficult to say more than that if you don't provide the info required - see the 'Things to Remember when Posting Reports' post prominently featured in the banner above, which you should have read before posting.
Edit: it seems the various PAL versions of Resident Evil 3 are copy protected, and the behaviour you describe is typical of copy protection. Again, we need to know more about the game you are playing and how you are playing it to offer useful suggestions - or make use of your information.

1.) Go to File>Configuration and then go to Graphics and uncheck Bilinear Interpolation. 2.) ?. I never need to use the keyboard to play games in pSX. I have a real controller . 3.) I've had no problems running RE3. Probably the copy protection thing that patrickp was talking about.

thanks guys
it was Bilinear Interpolation that was giving me the blurry screen effect
the input, i got it working with my num keys, i had to set 'Num Lock' on to make it work in pSX, fixed
i believe my RE3 is a PAL so ill have to find other ways (like buying RE3 agian, old one died)
i have a suggestion, can we have unlimited save slot not for the memory card but the emulator's own save feature? for ex: F1 for slot number, F2 for save, F3 for load, F4 for a new set of 10 free slot, and F5 for cycling 10 slots. or another way of allowing unlimited save slot

If you Resident Evil 3 is a PAL version and copy protected, you may not need to buy another one - look somewhere like MegaGames and see if you can find a patch. You can apply .ppf patches on the fly in pSX; the easy way to do this is with Ultima's Frontend, or if you're familiar with command line use, you can do it that way. Many variations on save state options have been requested before including, I'm pretty sure, yours, or very similar variations.

thanks you two, i tried the patch solution but it required command line skills so ill try some other tricks There's no time like the present to learn. Any piece of text-mode software worth its salt will have a built-in help page. Usually these can be accessed in one of the following ways, depedning on which operation system convention is followed: command --help command -h command /? It's usually just a matter of following the stated syntax from there.

Actually, for pSX it's psxfin -?, jking. I'd agree with you that command line skills are essential for getting the best out of your computer, but some people just aren't going to learn. If anyone wants a quick explanation, I just came across an old one of mine here (this was long before Ultima built his Frontend! ) But Ultima's Frontend is so useful, not just for command line switches, but for pretty much all the starting options you might need. It covers non-command line options such as setting the BIOS you want to use - I think most of us here are probably starting pSX with his Frontend, and only thinking about the emulator when we upgrade or need to check something out that involves starting it by itself...

3 good things about pSX.
1. No plug-ins. 2. No hacking drivers. 3. Better than any other psx programs.
I just had to bring this up. ;D

Actually, for pSX it's psxfin -?, jking. Everyone just has to be different, hmm? However, Patrick, I was not wrong: -h does also work for pSX.
