I think that mdf/mds files from alcohol 120 are populars from create own image files for play in emulator.

* Linkified from here* Indeed, this has been requested many times before. It's not out of the picture, I suppose, but for the moment, you could always use DaemonTools to emulate the drive and/or rip it into a CloneCD image.

How can one live without daemon tools?

There are alternatives - Virtual Clonedrive, Nero Imagedrive or Alcohol 120%'s virtual drive for example.

True. I used Daemon Tools until I started using CloneCD; then, as CloneCD can also set up virtual drives, there wasn't much point in continuing to use Daemon Tools.

Yeah but you have to understand that Daemon and Alochol are the only virtual drives that support just about all types of CD and DVD image formats. While Nero and CloneCD only support 1 or 2. I've never heard of Virtual CloneDrive until now so I can't speak for it.

Thanks, Sune. Most applications that will mount images seem to have a pretty wide range of format compatibility, I think.

Dunno, I always have the impression that Daemon Tools is the most compatible. Then again, it's also blacklisted oh-so-very-often by those games that come with stupid copy protection schemes. There are alternatives - ... Alcohol 120%'s virtual drive for example. FWIW, Alcohol's drive emulator is based on Daemon Tools

Alcohol's 120% Emulated mdf without mds, daemon no, daemon emulate only 4 drivers, alcohol emulate 6 drivers, daemon required slow machine resources for run.

I've never seen the point of having more drives emulated simultaneously -- 4 drives is more than enough, and in general, the most I've ever found myself using was 2 drives, and that was probably only once (out of the rare few times that I actually use DT anyhow). Anyway, Alcohol 120% emulates more than just 6 drives -- it was something more along the lines of 30+, IINM.

Likewise; I think the application I use, CloneCD, also supports a large number of virtual drives - of which I've probably never used more than one at a time...

Same here, I only have one emulated drive at use at any given time. Just don't really need more.

Well CloneCD is also on that Blacklist though and they have never even tried to get around that with upgrades like Deamon and Alcohol. I actually have 4 drives but I too have found myself only using 1 or 2 of them. The only time I've used all 4 is to install WoW since I make images of all 4 discs. This saves me the trouble of having to switch the disc so the installation completes without prompting me for the next disc. I've done this with other multidisc games as well but only the newer ones don't prompt me and I have found 1 that refuses to look at any drive but the one that disc 1 was mounted in.
