Currently, you can choose only one bios for PS1. Why not to let users choose 4 bioses - one for each region (Japan, Europe, USA, Asia-Pacific - like in MESS) and boot the right one, depending on the game's region, like in Fusion for Sega/Mega CD?

Effectively, you can boot pSX with whatever BIOS you want (if you have it) if you use Ultima's pSX Frontend, f1reb4ll. Besides which, there are sometimes reasons for using BIOSs from different regions than the game.

It's a really good idea though. Gets my vote.

Only if it's an option and turned off by default. As patrick said, there can be reasons to load different region bios for some games.

I've already mentioned Fusion - you can set region autodetect there or choose the region manually.

Well, since you only stated Fusion as an example to your specific request, people wouldn't think you'd be talking about the specific methods of *how* Fusion implements the feature, which is outside of the specific request you made. While the feature sounds quite nice, I know I would never use it. Not to say it's bad, but I figured I'd mention that. Also, implementation of the feature would have to be made under the assumption that people would only set multiple BIOS for region autodetect if the person actually *has* the consoles from the different regions they're setting to be used... Again, not to say people don't have consoles from multiple regions (I have a UK unit, though it was irrepairably broken before I even got it... my friend was going to throw it away, but I thought it'd be cool to have just to have, broken or not... XD).

Same version of bioses (eg. 4.5, model SCPH101, SCPH102) are only different in one byte, which sets the region (offset 0x7FF52). So multi-BIOS select is IMO unnecessary as those BIOSes are practically the same. There could be difference between those BIOSes and Japanese ones but besides language I doubt it.
Btw: Yes change that value in Hex editor on SCPH101 from A to E and you get SCPH102, European BIOS (even runs on 50 fps in emulator).

To be honest, I'm just somewhat tired of resolution switches on my TV connected to the TV-Out (running PAL game with NTSC BIOS and vice-versa).

Well then, why not stick to a BIOS that matches your television video standard, f1reb4ll? My observation is that pSX outputs a game in whatever resolution the BIOS is, regardless of the game region.

Same resolution, different modes (PAL is 50 Hz, NTSC is 60 Hz) - I can't get a nice picture without a proper frequency and vsync.
