I think I know of a beneficial CD-ROM option that may be of some benefit to some of us if not more or less given the drives will support it.
I've noticed on some games that when the CD spins down the game will stall until the CD is re-read by the system and the software is reloaded.
A few good options as follows:
Read-Ahead Buffer/Cashe: Would keep the CD-ROM reading ahead to a certain point using a (for example) 2mb software buffer for data that could be read by the emulator to keep the game from stalling when the system spins down the disk and allow the system to spin-up the disk again without the stall.
Disable spindown: Keeps the system from spinning down the disk by placing a limiter to keep the CD spinning and readable on the fly. An alternative to Read-Ahead Buffer/Cashe for drives that may not support the other feature? Compatibility would be an issue with multi-disk games.
