As an avid player of Silent Hill from when it was originally released on PSX, I also play other older titles not compatible with newer PCs. Got SH2,3 and 4 on PC but obviously SH was never ported. I currently use EPSXE and find for myself it to be adequate, however (as you will already know) the plugins are hit and miss dependant on the machine you are using. I have a fully working EPSXE emulator for my PC, but my friend also wants it and I cannot get it to work on his.
I have just started found and planned using PSX emu to see if I can work with it, and would love to migrate over to it full stop, It's timing seems smoother, sounds clearer and no need to search for endless plugins. However, on the first hurdle it stalls. The graphics on SH are like an "Andy Warhole". There seems to be a refresh issue where on the "loading" sequence, Harry's image never truly disapears until the actual game starts. Also the whole graphics rendering on this just looks incomplete and "holey". A screenshot can be posted if required.
If anyone has had this working, please advise the gfx settings. PC spec:
p4 2.8g 512m cache, 1024m RAM 2 dvd-rw + 1 external dvd/cd-rw combo 120 + 300 gb hard drives thrustmaster firestorm dual power 3 gamepad thrustmaster firestorm wireless gamepad Nvidia Geforce 6600gt 128 graphics card Onboard Realtec AC'97 Audio 17" TFT Monitor 42" Plasma TV/Monitor Windows XP Home SP2
Thanks

What is your question exactly? Do you need help for epsxe or pSX emu?

With that problem you have to wait for the next version of pSX emu. The real psx has a filter to make the image look preferable, and pSX emu tries to emulate it, but it's not perfect yet. So, maybe the next version will be better.

I've seen discussions around 1.4. They all look to be speculation. but if this could get fixed that would be cool. I play this on my tv and switched between ps2(with original psx sh in it0 and EPSXE. Very little difference just some minor timing and sound issues. These get sorted with PSX Emu but the graphics are not very good. I look forwarding to seeing 1.4 if it will fix this.
Cheers

The pSX emulator displays in the Resolutions the PlayStation displayed. The pSX can stretch the output to the desired PC resolution. This does not make a higher resolution of the original output. Some games do use a High Resolution mode for menus, logos, and title screens.
As for the blurring at hight resolutions, I'm not sure if its a filter so simulate the TV's fuzzynes uplcose or just hardware attempting to smooth the Image.
As for Silent Hill, some of the effects the PlayStation has is not perfected, incomplete or not known.
