Descent Maximum (SLUS_00460) • v1.1 - v1.11 (actual game CD) • SCPH-1001 BIOS • Notes: It works fine, except for an uncommonly large black bar at the bottom of the screen. As of v1.11, the screen gets centered. Edit: see this thread.

By the looks of things the developers just made the frame buffer smaller to get it to run fast enough (or maybe so they could fit more graphics in VRAM).... unless anything seems to be missing off the bottom? Thats by far the smallest vertical size I've seen in a game to date, but it wouldn't suprise me if it was right Although correct screen positioning is actually quite tricky I am planning to just centre the screen vertically in the next release... which is probably what most games do anyway.

In fact, there isn't anything missing at the bottom, but I believe the top of the screen has some missing parts. I tried to save a screenshot of the game at the same position (not quite simple; haven't thought about that possibility before, or else I would have looked for a better position to save the first screenshot...) with another emulator, for checking purpose.

You can check for missing parts of the screen by using the "Show VRAM" key - that will display all of vram... (you'll know what I mean if you try it).

Sorry to disappoint you, pSX Author, but that screen tells me nothing. Either there's nothing I should see or I'm blind enough so I can't see what I should.

Well, you should be able to see the "screen" in VRAM. It'll be a bit scrunched up, but you should be able to see if there is anything missing off the top.
There are other problems that could in theory cause stuff to be missing off the top in VRAM too, but its unlikely.
