I suppose so. I've just never found much use for it. JPEG has always worked out for me when I need compression, and it's far more compatible than PNG in the uses I require. But I guess it would depend on the person and what they're using it for.

I wonder if this little announcement and when the new version actually comes out (if it does, I'm skeptical) will rekindle the flame under the plugin development. We can hope atleast.

We can only hope so (I was thinking the same thing). It'd be nice to see more work done on plugins, both the well-developed ones (especially the hardware plugins which need a lot of work to look more decent) and the less-developed ones that looked so promising.
I guess I'm not really so worried about graphics plugins (the software ones are the best anyway, and most people can run them without slowdowns these days). Sound, however, could use a bit of work. To a lesser degree, the pad plugins could use some work too.
But even putting all that aside, we'll have to see if this new version of ePSXe can at least be better than the last two releases (so we can stop having to switch between the two for different games).
