I know save states are more or less just a 'woohoo we have it' thing, not necessarily supported to be there or whatnot, but personally I think the save states should be saved in a manner where if you hit the wrong key (F1 for example) it doesn't load a state from another game you've already run before... better example I played Megaman X4.... saved a state before last boss... (slot 1... f1) Ok, then I played Legend of Dragoon... and WOOPS hit F1... there I was... in the middle of Megaman X4... everything worked right up until I hit the boss door... funky music though I just think that it should save them seperately somehow, as to stop this little annoyance, and give us more save state slots if one so chooses Dunno just an annoyance :z

I use the manual savestates that you have to write the name yourself.

Usually emulators have different quicksave states for every game.

Perhaps if the emulator were to save (and load) save states automatically with the name of the game? This seems to be how other emulators do it.
My other quibble with the save states system would be that, by default, the Shift key is allocated to one of the shoulder buttons on the pad, which means that when you press Shift + a Function key to save a save state, it also activates that button in the game - which is sometimes a nuisance. It's easy enough to reassign the shoulder button key allocation, I know, but it would make sense not to have those two functions allocated to the same key in the first place! ;-)

v1.5 will create quicksaves using the name of the exe on the CD. I will try to think of a way around the shift problem.

Well... let's see you got 5 save slots... could always have..
F1-F4 (write or load save states) F5-F8 (opposite of f1-f4)
think you kinda get the idea. I don't know if you already use the keys for something (tried pressing them in game and nothing so I don't think you are). But that'd get around the shift problem and give quicker access to the save states.

The Shift button is the default for the L1 (upper left shoulder) button, yerlanthien, and has an effect in quite a few games, although sometimes only in certain situations.
As I said, it's no great problem to assign another key to the L1 button. But it seems silly to have as default two possibly conflicting actions for the same key!

The Shift way is good, but i would change it around so the Shift is needed to load a save, or at least made an option to change assigned keys. Shift-F1 is kinda hard to do with one hand. Shift-1 is much better.
Suppose you make a save and then play for an hour, and then press the wrong button and there - you are thrown back in time and have to play that part again. If you accidentally SAVE at the wrong time - well, no harm done.
