Hi,
I posted this in my enthusiastic pSX emulator rocks-thread, but I was told to put the bug report here aswell, so here we go:

Trouble-causing pSX version : v1.6 System : Windows XP
I have a very similar issue : the Z-and-so key config is not the one I want, so I tried to change it. Just like Philip, my new config was listed successfully, but it hasn't changed in-game, and I still have to use Z etc... I still use the old 1.1 version of the emulator, where the binds have been changed successfully, for that reason.
*Note* : I tried to solve this problem modifying the psx.ini file but it didn't work.
EDIT : I managed to get through this, simply by overwriting the v1.6 ini file with my v1.1 ini file. Guess I had edited it in a wrong way...

sniper,
your solution is to assign the button to Z (which is displayed as Z, but later interpreted as Y) if you want to use Y in the game. This is what I was reporting: The key setting UI uses a different mapping than the game itself.

You misunderstood me My solution was to run an older pSX version (i.e. v1.1), save the config you want and then copy the psx.ini file into the v1.7 directory.
