Occasionally my game will stop recieving input from the gamepad, the game will continue running, and if i was pressing a button such as up or down, it will continually be pressed until it comes back.
The controller is a USB P2500 Rumble by saitek.
The game i was playing was ogre battle, and i havent really tried any others yet, but Ill report if i happen to.

Does this happen in other (non-pSX) games and emulators, nano?

Yeah, and if it does, what OS are you using, and are you using the correct drivers for your controller?

Are you hearing the Windows "USB device disconnected" and "USB device connected" sounds at random times? If so, your computer may not be putting out enough power to your joystick to keep it stable and working. I've had this problem in the past with USB PSX controller adaptors, but it CAN happen with ANY USB device.

Does this happen in other (non-pSX) games and emulators, nano? No. In fact, when playing the same game in epsxe it works perfectly as expected. Yeah, and if it does, what OS are you using, and are you using the correct drivers for your controller? Windows XP Professional, and Im using the drivers that came with it. Some games do that (like RayStorm, one I'm familiar with that exhibits the same problem).

Oh. I assumed it wasn't a game issue since it didn't note it on the compatibility list.

Well, I'd imagine that part of the problem with noting this type of problem is the scarcity of them. With the very many different types of controllers people use and the thousands of hardware/software combinations people use, it'd be sort-of weird to note that a certain game doesn't work with a certain type of controller. Then, there's the problem that it may not actually be a problem, but rather a user/OS/hardware problem, meaning it would most likely only happen for *that* person and maybe a couple others by a tiny misfortune. Of course... I could be overanalyzing this. Anyway... I have a few thoughts. - How long are these gaps where the controller doesn't work? - Have you tried using the keyboard at these times to make sure that it's working? - Have you tried using a different controller (if you have one) to see if it does the same thing? - Have you tried updating the drivers for the controller (found here: www.saitekusa.com/usa/down/sstdown.htm )? - Have you updated to the latest version of DirectX (which actually released an update this month)? - Finally... I know you haven't *heard* the disconnect sound, but does a notice show up in the system bar (bottom right of the screen) saying that a device has been disconnected when this happens (I doubt this one, as you'd probably notice it, but better to ask than not)? - Here's an off-the-wall follow-up to the last question (only works if the "gap" mentioned above is at least a few seconds long). Run pSX with your game, and in the background run some other low-demand emulator (like an SNES or Genesis emulator) with a game and let it sit there idle. Then, the instant that this problem occurs in pSX, switch to the other emulator and see if the problem occurs in that one too. Edit: It just occured to me to ask. Which Ogre Battle are you playing (and what region is it from)? Thinking back to when I was testing games last, I tested both Ogre Battle games, and I actually recall having the same problem. I considered reporting it but decided it was probably just my controller or computer being stupid. I will go back now and test to see which game it was.

Bah... nevermind my last post (except for the question in my edit). As soon as I'm done posting this, it's about to become a known issue of the game. You're playing Ogre Battle - Limited Edition, aren't you (the rerelease of the SNES game)? It was indeed the one that I was having a problem with. I'm using a PSone Dualshock through a PS2-to-USB converter, so I doubt it's a matter of the controller, since it's the only game (out of at least 100 so far) that's given me this trouble on this emulator (and no trouble with the hundreds of games otherwise played on PC/emulator).

It's a timing issue that was resolved and "the fix" will be in the next version (Because it's in the WIP, too )
