it works, but only after setting up the pad each time i enter the emu. if i dont, then everything seems to work fine except that the rumble feature is gone, altough it is still checked in the pad configuration.
i use a smartjoy plus adapter along with a dualshock 2 controller.

What exactly do you mean by "setting up the pad"? I'm wondering cuz the rumble feature doesn't work for me no matter what I've tried, but I never tried re-setting up the controller settings.

atari1980, make sure you click the Apply button on the Controller tab when you've input your settings.
However, rumble still seems to be very hit-and-miss on this emulator - not surprising, really, it's less than 9 months old and still developing. Bottom line is that rumble on some pads/systems just doesn't work as yet.

Gamesoul Master, setting up the pad - configuring axis,buttons,etc... the rumble feature works there after, until i exit the emu.
patrickp, yup i always press the apply button. i understand that this emu is quite new, and i'm already really impressed with it. just wanted to see if it was a general problem or a compatibility problem with the gamepad/emu combination.
thanks

This is true in general, since I have yet to see an emulator work correctly with the rumble on my own PSX adaptors (it IS supported, before anyone asks.)

Yeah, my damn thing doesn't rumble, and it's supposedly supported. I never liked using rumble, cuz I don't see the point. I don't need a rumble feature to get more into the game or enjoy it more... it *is* annoying when I put down the controller while letting a GF summoning go through, and the damn controller starts rattling all over the place. So... maybe I'm just better off with it not working for this emulator, and just let the rest of you figure out all the in's and out's of getting rumble to work.

Well, rumble may have its entertaining side, but it's not exactly essential for finishing games! ;D

Everybody who says rumble is not essential should play Metal Gear Solid. It's really put to good use in that game.
I wonder if it's possible to generate the effects exactly as they are on the real thing, in a PC based emulator.

Good point. MGS really uses it well...

My Microsoft Xbox controller (using XBCD drivers) works fine in pSX. All the rumbling seem to hit all the cues, I think. I guess I just go and check it.

Well, I know there are a few games that utilize the rumble feature to a higher degree (like on N64 in Ocarina of Time, for finding some of the holes). Besides that game, I don't really play any others where there is any use for rumble besides purely entertainment value. But it really is just my opinion on its usefulness. I know a lot of people like it, so it's not like I hold that against people or something... I just don't prefer it myself.
I wish I didn't have only wireless XBox 360 controllers, else I'd try using them as controllers on the PC. Maybe when they finally release that wireless USB receiver for the wireless controllers, I'll get it and give them a shot.
