reset which skipped the battle and i didnt get the boss exp and

I played FFVII on pSX v1.9 with no problems. Just figured I'd mention that, considering the severe lack of information here.
So going on that, you have a bad image. Buy the game and come back when you have a real copy. For that matter, come back when you get your BIOS from the actual Playstation that you don't own. Have a nice day.

if i load the states manually the sound cuts off and i get an odd humming noise It might sound strange, but try to backtrack a little bit and save in a place when nothing is happening in the game and there's no sound effects being played. Better yet - if the game has a pause function, go into pause mode and do a save state from there. I was playing Tomb Raider a lot just when it started working in pSX, and the only way I could be sure that my save states wouldn't make the game freeze eventually, was to save the state when the game was paused. If there's no pause function, try to go to some static screen before you save, like a stats menu or something like that.

The game can only be paused while in battle. Going to the menu doesn't stop the music from playing. It is a good idea though... worth trying for sure.

Also the hot keys for the "quick save" featrure are: Quick Save 1-5= F1-F5 Quick Load 1-5=F6-F10 not "shift f1 save and f1 load". Just thought I'd mention that.
It is recommended that you only use save states as a last resort. It would be best to use memory card saves instead whenever you can. The save states save the exact "state" of the memory as well as other things such as what bios is being used exc. If an error occurs somewhere in the memory during emulation then this error would be saved in the save state file as well and when you reload it you will notice all kinds of problems with the game that would not have normally occured.
There are also some games that no matter what you do or where you save, they will never work when loaded from a save state. This feature is only for your convinence and these games are not use to being saved and loaded this way so there will always be a high chance that something will eventually go wrong when you continue to only use the save state feature.

Wasn't it the other way round? Quick Load 1-5= F1-F5 Quick Save 1-5=F6-F10 Just a friendly reminder.

Well, the time it took for me to decipher your first post would have been well spent doing something else. Try being a bit more coherent, use punctuation and all that other useless grammar related stuff. Also
