Hi. PSX ver 1.9 was working just fine until I removed the virtual drive support software I had on my windows XP SP2 machine. I get an "bOrken" error message, and "unhandled exception - save a crash dump?" message.
I removed the ini and all traces of psx from the registry. I then reinstalled the virtual cd daemon software. I still get the error message.
NOTHING is displayed in the console...
I downloaded the debugger 'with loggin' ver, and there are logs get created, (all 3 zero bytes) I get the same message and then the logs dissappear..
Help?
Is there perhaps a default .ini I could borrow to see if it is the Emu getting confused with regard to my drive letters?
IE brute force it to think that drive E: is the first cd rom drive.. If that does not work... then perhaps there is some residual garbage left in the registry from previous Virtual drive configs that PSX is picking up on?

pSX doesn't touch the Registry... My guess is that uninstalling the drive emulator screwed up your drive configuration, or maybe something related to ASPI/IoControl.

If this is the case, best solution suggestions appreciated! pSX doesn't touch the Registry... My guess is that uninstalling the drive emulator screwed up your drive configuration, or maybe something related to ASPI/IoControl.

Dunno for sure =T Try reinstalling the drive emulator, and maybe check your ASPI layer stuff (place the DLL in the pSX directory).

Try saving a crash dump and emailing it to me - I'll see where it is crashing - might give a clue...

Why don't you... just delete psx.ini? The emulator is not so complex that you'll have to spend more than a couple minutes setting everything back to the way you had it before. If deleting psx.ini doesn't help, it can't really be a direct problem with pSX. In that case, Ultima's suggestions would be recommended.

Success.
The WnAspi32.dll in the emu directory answer fixed the problem!
thanks for the assist guys.
(Perhaps this can be shipped with the emu by default?)

I don't see why, as the d3dx9_26.dll file is not distributed either. Aside from that, if I'm reading the redistributing "licence" correctly, pSX Author would have to mention Nero AG on his homepage. While not such a big deal, I don't see why he should have to.

Well... either way, at least his problem is solved. Wouldn't have thought of that, myself. Installing a full ASPI layer solved my problems with the oldest versions of pSX, and newer versions never gave me any ASPI problems...
I swear, Mika posted in here just to get at me... XD. It's cool, I had that one coming, since it was posted, clear as day, that he tried removing the .ini file. Dumb oversight on my part...

Yeah... sorry again about that. Did you notice all the posts we bantered in were removed? Meh... one less memory to remember.

I requested that from Ultima actually, it would have just gone downhill from there anyway. Better to snip it before that. I edited my first post to include some of the relevant stuff that was brought up in the posts, so it should be fine.
