Oops - okay - I guess you are probably one of the first people to test that I know I haven't tried it for ages. I will try to fix in the next version. There is no real reason to turn it off though - it requires very little CPU power (much less than 1% on my machine).

Why don't you just remove the reverb toggle then? (climbing onto soapbox..) What everybody seems to like best about pSX is that there's nothing to configure except the controls. And you only have to do that once. Less is more!

@psx Author: I mentioned it in reference to Final Fantasy VII not too long ago (around v1.8 or so)... though I mentioned it as part of the result of testing sound accuracy, so it went pretty much unnoticed. Sorry I didn't think to make a more specific mention of it (else it'd be fixed by now I'm sure...). Sune_S: I would agree with you on this topic, except I figure the option is mainly there for testing/debugging purposes... because honestly, who would actually turn it off for normal gameplay? "Less is more!" could be a good policy, but I think it's better to have the option to change these settings. Having the "best" (as in "accurate/compatible") settings set as default (which is current behavior) is nice because barely anything *needs* to be changed to play "out-of-the-box", but the possiblities are there.

Try using Pete's Direct Sound plugin in ePSXe and run the bios with the reverb tuned off and you'll hear the difference.

AFAIK you can turn the reverb on or off, and select different reverb options in other PSEmu sound plugins, haldrie. You certainly can in the Eternal one (my favourite).

Sune_S: What are you talking about?! I never said *anything* about *any* games working with reverb off *at all*, not to mention working *only* with reverb off. The only things I was saying in that quote was that I believe in having options to change things and having the best options as default, so that as little as possible would need to be changed to play out-of-the-box. And reverb is "on" by default... which goes with what I said about having the best settings as default is the CURRENT BEHAVIOUR, meaning that I basically said that reverb being "on" is the best setting. And besides, if you read the first sentence of what you quoted me on, you'll see that it alone completely negates your reply to the whole quote... cuz I said that I believe it's there for DEBUGGING/TESTING PURPOSES, and that nobody would actually turn it off during normal gameplay (which was a direct implication that there is never any reason to turn off reverb while simply playing a game). So really... what *are* you trying to get at, and are you reading the same thing that's actually posted?

Take it easy! I read "testing" as "compatibility testing", that's all.
I must be misunderstanding what you mean by 'debugging/testing purposes'.
If leaving reverb on doesn't affect game compatibility, then from my point of view there would be no reason to have the option to toggle it at all.

Well, when someone pointed it out on 5th October, pSX Author said Oops - okay - I guess you are probably one of the first people to test that I know I haven't tried it for ages. I will try to fix in the next version. There is no real reason to turn it off though - it requires very little CPU power (much less than 1% on my machine). So, obviously, it's just that he didn't notice it - it's not exactly major, after all. There hasn't been a new version since then (except) WIPs, so...
