thanks i didn't see that post before. i wonder if the psx author ever answered the question...
it doesn't take much for him to do.. simply allow one other author to use the source to port it... it can still stay closed source. i know that guy Xport would love to do such a thing for the community. porting it to the BOX would just allow pSX to be more widely used!

Thanks for that, claw. Regular forum posters get so tired of answering queries like that. But I'd better expand... thanks i didn't see that post before. i wonder if the psx author ever answered the question... Yes, he's answered it before very early on, crewde: psxemulator.proboards54.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=news&thread=1138526822&page=3. This was subsequently quoted by Ultima in the forum FAQs, and has been repeated any number of times since. Doesn't make sense. pSX Author has developed this emu entirely by himself, and clearly does not wish to share the source code, which is perfectly understandable.

actually what i said makes a lot of sense and yes indeed i read that post, but that post has nothing to do with him allowing Xport to work on a port. it simply states that he did the xbox port and then lost access to a dev kit, therefore the project is dead for now. what i was suggesting is just because the source is given to an outside Dev (such as Xport - a respected dev in the Xbox emulation scene) does not mean the source is now out in the open. dev's usually know how to respect another dev's work because they know first hand the hard work that goes into programming. i'm sure regular forum posters get tired of the same repeat questions over and over, but how are we to know when this question has been asked repeated times but has obviously gone unanswered. do a little search of the forum and prove me worng, because I did such a search and found little-to-nothing besides the fact that Xport is still waiting on a reply back from pSX Author. so flame me all u want ... do whatever u do, but all i did was make a simple inquiry about a still undecided issue. regardless of the current xbox port status, the PC version of pSX rocks and I can't wait to see development continue on such a great emulator. pSX is truly the PJ64 of Playstation emulation. good work pSX Author!

There is another reason I can't release an XBOX port anyway... which I can't really go into...

crewde: No, it doesn't make sense. You and other people in the XBox emulation scene may know and respect Xport, but that doesn't mean that you can assume people here will, as well - quite apart from whatever pSX Author's thoughts may be on the matter. Additionally, note pSX Author's response to your posts. He's never stood up on a rostrum, blown trumpets and announced that there will never, ever be a port of the emulator to the XBox (or anywhere else) or that his source code will remain a secret as long as Microsoft's, but it's pretty obvious to anyone who's spent time on this forum that a) it ain't gonna happen any time soon and b) if it ever does happen, it will be entirely his decision and not because people post on the forum announcing what a great idea it would be. That's why you got the responses you did. It gets boring.
