kidman: Trust me... I feel the same way ... It's just that since I can't write GUI's to much effect in C++ anymore/yet (and a GUI was the #1 request), I decided to try porting the code and finishing it in Java. Then I found/remembered the reasons I hated Java in the first place. Netplay... it'd probably have to be some kind of direct connect feature, but it would be cool to eventually implement.

How about a different Memory Card created for each and every game/iso like in the Sega Megadrive/CD emulator Kega Fusion/Gens? Then each time a game/iso is loaded, the emulator automatically access its specific Memory Card. That way we wouldn't have to worry about the card being full or having to constantly swap between games?
I don't know much about programming though, so if my suggestion come across as naive please bear with me :-) Anyway thanks for the pSX, Author. Simply amazing!

You can try using Ultima's pSX frontend which has such feature - every game can he it's own profile and therefore use different memory card:) [ link]

Something like, if if there is a memory card that matches the name of the image, it would load it automatically. Of course that kind of thing would have to somehow ignore Disc #, CD # etc etc from the image name to make it match right. But yeah, I like the idea. And here's one more vote for wider image format support for both the emu and cdz. nrg, mdf/mds atleast would be nice addition for both, and iso support for cdz.

Netplay... it'd probably have to be some kind of direct connect feature, but it would be cool to eventually implement. Something like Cyberpad, it let's you play on Kaillera (basically a emulator netplay system). Cyberpad works like a GPU plugin though. So in case pSX won't use plugins, Kaillera should be build-in.

Whoa why is there guest posting...? I could've sworn it was disabled... O.o patrickp: Thanks for the advice, I took it and am using it at the moment, but I'd still rather see full paths, as 8.3 short path+file looks ugly. Very ugly, and it's rather unreadable.

Definitely the option to change controller type on the fly, with button on gamepad or keyboard, seen this remark the most ... so I'd say it's high priority ;-)
Anyways, pSX ROCKS !!! ;-)

Ultima: Yes, I've yet to take it for a test run and give you some feedback! I guess recognition of long names is entirely down to pSX Author, though...

In my eyes features like cheat codes and netplay would be better for plugin based emus. pSX should focus on just being like the real thing. As such I would like to see blargg's NTSC filter in addition to the bilinear one. To make things look really authentic (but I don't know if this is possible license-wise and if it would have to be adjusted or even completely redesigned for the psx because of the different pixeltiming). This is the linke to the corresponding zsnes thread: board.zsnes.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6433&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

License-wise, I don't see a problem. A BSD-style license basically says "do whatever you want with the code, just be sure to give me credit."

Maybe getting Tekken 3 not to freeze after battle and get CTR - Crash Team Racing would be nice for version 1.9 or at least one of the games..........

Note to forum members: please see this thread: psxemulator.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=support&action=display&thread=1153404136&page=1. Looks like TheCloudOfSmoke now has a workable design down now for a controller selection graphic, but ATM pSX Author is not inclined to take it up. There's a couple of points I'd like to make: a) this _is_ a purely cosmetic change to the emulator configuration; it's not going to make the emulator work any better. But it would be a nice improvement, I think. And b), at the risk of stating the obvious, this emulator is entirely pSX Author's creation. The bottom line is, it's his decision. However, I'd like to ask forum members to have a look at this thread and, if they have opinions on this one way or the other, to contribute them here. Or, if the Administrators think this would be better in its own thread, there.
