Heya, I'm not sure if a new layout was already being done by someone, but I took the liberty to create something already. Whether it's being accepted or not... I had fun creating it so I'll just share it here:

You are kidding right? The site loads instantly for me here. Plus the animated pictures are only about 15 kb each

I'm on a cable connection and it took about 9 seconds to load the first page fully. Maybe I'm being picky but nowdays people seem to care very little about website optimization. The current website while may be bland loads in less than a second which is something I prefer over 9 seconds. Then again maybe the website host sux.

Plus the animated pictures are only about 15 kb each obviously it will load faster for you, the images are already loaded in your browsers cache. obviously since you designed it. the look is great but its too heavy, not everyone has cable either. when you design a website you have to consider people using 56k connections. remember the size of this emu is very small. nad most of the guys here arent downloading thier games, so they dont need highspeed to take advantage of it. id would sugget using image ready to lighten up the size of the images on the size, use all gifs for images with 4 or less colors, make sure your only using colors in photshop that are websafe and kill the animated gifs. take it from someone who has a degree in digital media =)

1. The website host does not suck, I can assure you that. 2. Even without cache, it loads for about 2 seconds. Although I agree it would take longer for people on slower cable or 56k. I believe once the site has loaded, people have it in their cache so it will loader faster next time. 3. Although the author of this emu hasn't replied yet, I guess this is his/her way to say he's/she's not interested. Thanks again for feedback on this one. Remember, I take every reply seriously Update: removed the animated gif and reduced the pictures quality a bit, can't go any lower though. Does it load a bit faster now for you?

Excellent looking website! One area of my University study is web-designing, and at the moment I can only make sites with HTML in Dreamweaver, and I'm working with WYSIWYG so as far as coding goes I know very little. I just want to ask though, what kind of technologies did you use to base that site on, I'm assuming it's mostly CSS is it? Bah, either way it's great heh As for taking too long, a simple rule to follow in web designing is to give 56k users at the absolute MOST - 20 seconds for a page to load up, 15 should really be the ammount. I do have one suggestion that might aid it in one sense. On the screenshots page, maybe you should make reduced size/quality thumbnails of each image and simply table them up as links to the full size images. I know the images aren't really huge to begin with but it would probably make a difference

Good job down to 2 seconds which is totally fine, and once the files are in the cache its instant. As for the design, its definitly better than what is used presently so no complaints in that deparment
