Yeah, that's really everything. Me and my brother are planning to play Secret of Mana over the internet on ZSNES at some point in the near future. This made me wonder, are there any other SNES games with two player co-op that might deserve my attention. By co-op I of course mean that both players play at the same time (Secret of Mana, Bomberman series) rather than by taking turns (Super Mario World, etc etc.). Any recommendations?

Super Mario Kart and Killer Instinct. If you can find an English patch for FF4j, then you can co-op that RPG as well, I believe.
There's also "Dr Mario & Tetris" if you want a good puzzle game. It's both games combined for the SNES.

Well, if you want quick-finishing ones, you can try Captain Commando or the Final Fight series. Goof Troop (I've finished it over the internet with a friend some weeks ago) is also good, although still kind of short. Sonic Wings, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Top Gear would fit the "OK" difficulty/game length. However, if you like "Hard" to "Impossible" ones, I suggest Kiki KaiKai - Tsukiyo Soushi..

Excellent. Keep 'em coming. I posted this to another forum too, some good suggestions there as well. I had completely forgotten about Unirally(Uniracers) for example which was suggested there. Probably not going to play many vs. games (Killer Instinct etc.) though, just the ones where you are the same side, kicking ass. I can't believe I've never even finished Turtles in Time.

Tetris Attack. This is the best two-player Tetris clone I've ever had the pleasure of playing on any platform. Gameplay is easy to grasp initially but once you learn how to do combos it starts to get really interesting. Plus the game design is top notch-flawless - there are so many cool little details everywhere and the music is really really nice. Especially the awesome, prominent bass lines. The guy who did the music must be a bass player. Well..as long as you don't mind the whole Yoshi kiddie-universe. I know it makes some people wanna throw up. Tip: If both players press both shoulder buttons at the same time on the character select screen, you can select the boss characters. This might be difficult to pull off with netplay though..

Would you count Donkey Kong Country as taking turns? While neither character technically plays at the same time, one character rarely ends up playing for too long. Fun (though easy) series to play. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie... Knights of the Round... Sunset Riders... a few of the classic games I played years ago with my sister. FFIV doesn't allow co-op playing (from what I can tell), but FFV and FFVI do. The few others I'd mention have already been mentioned...

Just did my research. FFIV CAN be played in 2-Player mode. It's pretty sweet. I figured you could because I did it once before, but forgot if you really could or not. Anyway, it's confirmed.

What kind of multiplayer is in those FF games? I've never heard of such possibility. I can't imagine it being very interesting (turn based battles in co-op doesn't sound too hot), but do tell. I'm getting a pretty good list already, and eventhough I've dropped some stuff (DKC games for example, played them through when they originally came out) the list is growing. Oh yeah, I mean to ask... Are all these recommendations actually good games? ;D

Well, I find it interesting, although I am an RPG fan myself. Think of it as a strategic way of defeating your enemies. Still, it's just an RPG. Also, the mechanics of multiplayer mode are that player one controls the top, middle and bottom characters while player two controls the in-between-ers.
You know, there's also Joe & Mac 2. That one is pretty funny.
I've also played Super Ninja Boy...but that is another game that should never have been released to the public...well, not the masses anyway. The storyline sucks and the gameplay is buggy, but I beat it...somewhat. No cheats, just a lame way of beating the final boss with one hit.
I forgot to mention Contra, Battletoads, Double Dragon and Final Fight. Those games are pretty self-explanitory.

I played many in my days. -Aero Fighter -Beavis and Butthead (one of my favorite advanture, but a hard game) -Bust-A-Move (puzzle bobble) -Contra III (speaks for itself, this is probably the best choice) -Donkey Kong County (there is a co-op, the player currently in control have to option to switch over to the 2nd player, but the player not in control cant take over at his own will) -Mortal Kombat II -Raiden Trad -Samurai Shodown -Street fighter II (the new challengers and alpha 2) -Super Conflict (I really, really liked this military turn base strategy game) -Super Double Dragon (another classic) -Super Earth Defense Force (best plane shooter I've played, if you like those old schools) -Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Too bad I dont think they have Super Dodge Ball for SNES, but I played it for NES, it was an extremely fun game.

@linux-CoRe: I'm still not seeing where you can use 2 players for FFIV. I tried everyplace on the main menu, and none of the options there let you change who controls characters either. Edit: Wow... the one thing I didn't try (since games don't usually support it)... just use the second controller. No need to set anything at all. Both controllers basically act as "first player" (at least in battle... didn't test outside of battle). I don't even know what to say about that... -.-;
