Rather handy the CVGS Connectix XP fix, lets me play the titles pSXemu does not yet work with.
Any clever bod out there who can explain the differences between these two emulators? An amateurs guess would be they are very similar in their approach to psx emulation?
Only wondering, no blazing required! ;D

Actually, they are bpth very nice emulators. They don't try to enhance anything, just emulate. But VGS, is just outdated. It has lots of problems, and it won't work very well on Athlom 64 processors.
Both emus had great compatibility, even though pSX's is better. There are lots of games that work great on VGS, but also there are LOTS of games that are pratically unplayable, like Parasite Eve 2. There's one thing that I like about VGS though: even a crappy 400 MHz PC with 128 MB of RAM and a crappy on-board video card can play most games at full speed using VGS.
Anyway, VGS is discontinued, and since it was a commercial emulator, most likelly its ilegal to obtain it now.

Not only discontinued, but bought out by Sony (after they brought a lawsuit against Connectix: Connectix won, but were crippled by the costs and thus easy pickings for Sony) and discontinued. I doubt that Sony would agree to its use by anyone.
Nevertheless, it's not hard to pick up a copy. Strange, anyone would have thought that, somehow, people weren't according Sony the respect and deference due to a mega media company with an unparallelled record of defending their intellectual property rights regardless of the cost...
I don't have a copy of Connectix VGS, of course. I'm sure no-one else here does, either.

I even bought a neat modified PSX controller that goes on the parallel port. Since the Playstations where never released here, they where (and still are) quite expensive. It was MUCH cheaper to buy VGS. Some time later I finally bought my PSX, so I stoped using VGS. Its not like my PC can run it anymore!

Good point. psi. Everyone who owns a legit copy of Connectix VGS, please raise two fingers (or one if American) at Sony, now!
Well, I've got a legitimate copy of Bleem!...
