... am I the only one nowdays who still plays these games? What happened here, when I was a kid, the M&M games did for the PC what Final Fantasy did for the console RPGs. They where used as references when talking about RPGs, alongside with Ultima (not the admin fella, the series ) and Lands of Lore.
But now, what happened? Not only I feel like no one ever talk about this series anymore, but I guess no one seems to be suffering for the fact that it seems no 10th game is being made!
When I talk to my friends about these games, they look at me like I have a third arm, and tell me to go play a real RPG: Final Fantasy!!! Ok, far from me to say something bad about Final Fantasy, but why did FF became so important on the RPG world? I mean, linear games where you can't even create your own chars, you don't have to bother leveling up (at least not on the later games. After FF7, you don't need to do this) and don't have more than two or three sidequests... They aren't real RPGs. Again, I DO like FF, but why they are considered RPG references, when they are getting away from the RPG genre?? (FF is NOT better nor worse than M7M, they are just diferent games).
Anyway, maybe I'm alone on this, but FOR ME the M&M series is still the real reference to the RPG genre.
I just wanna know: does someone here feel the same way as I am? Does someone else here feels like the RPG genre, the REAL RPG genre is dead? Is someone else here waiting for M&M 10, or maybe Ultima 10? I really rope so.
