Hi everybody I have a question for PSX Author, is it possible to implement a smoothing feature in to psx emulator like what the PS3 got in the 1.8 firmware update, because that would probably solve a lot of the pixelated graphics everybody is talking about. Also this is not about an NTSC Filter or Bilinear Filtering just wanted to know if it was possible to add a smoothing feature like what the PS3 has. Also if this means anything I read on some other forum from Sony themselves that the PS3 had this problem with PS1 and PS2 games was because their was not smoothing feature implemented into component cables or HDMI cables that the PS3 need for the older games and only composit cables had it which is why my PS1 and PS2 games looked perfect on my regular TV using composit cables and I was thinking maybe that is why PSX Emulator is suffering the samething because the VGA cable or whatever most people use to connect their computer monitor use might have the same problem and lack the smoothing feature and it would really be cool if it were implemented or if it is please tell me how to use it because I only saw bilinear filtering and their is no NTSC filter yet. Thx for your replies I was just curious if this was the problem and if it were possible to fix.

Yes, there is only Bilinear filtering in pSX ATM, niceguy71486. Further filtering may be introduced in the future, but is not considered important because the purpose of pSX is to emulate a Playstation accurately, not to emulate the way a Playstation is emulated on a Playstation 3. You could try the Linux version; the Bilinear filtering seems a little more effectively implemented there... In addition, some punctuation would be very helpful for people trying to read your posts: you went 6 1/2 lines there (in my browser window) without pausing for breath. Hope you didn't feel too dizzy afterwards...

Yuck, use ePSXe if you must put up with that. Tekken 3 looks like crap with filtering enabled on the PS2. I killed off ePSXe when I found out there was actually an alternative to the one and only Pete's graphics enhancer. Otherwise I'd use the discontinued E}I{ Soft GPU plugin, unfortunately it doesn't like games called Tekken and has some MDEC glitches. Tekken 1 and 2 don't work at all and Tekken 3 has 2 pixels too many on the right. Unfortunately pSX also has problems with the later two. Excuse my usual Tekken spam!

It's Ok, Heihachi - we're not tekken you seriously...
I've always quite liked ePSXe and the enhancement bit. Just a pity it can't be as simply accurate and transparent as pSX.

HAHA, that was a good one- "we're not tekken you seriously."-, hahaha. Sorry if I have a shallow sense of humor. Yeah, I've seen a lot of pots from Heihaichi_73 about tekken, haha, maybe that's the reason he took his name from a tekken character. Heihaichi, how did you get your tekken 3 to work on pSX? I've only seen a post by you telling how to make tekken 2 work. Is it the same thing? Wait...I seem to have lost my tekken copy somewhere around the house, so...I'll just get back with the cd info, haha. But, I think it's a Japanese version... Thanks.

Wait, that's "posts" by the way, sorry for the error. Haha, I don't know about you guys, but pots stands for a lot of meanings here in my place, and they are't good too, haha, so...my apologies.

Or perhaps maybe a texture filtering option would sound great, like the PS2 had.

That's a very smooth head - wonder how Picard is filtered? I think you're right, Sune - time for this thread to go bye-byes! xalos9: picture smoothing is something that's been discussed ad nauseam in these forums. Check the Known Requests link at the top of every page in this forum. thread locked - patrickp
