I did a search on js0. There isn't no file or folder by that name. Ubuntu 7.04 must not came with it or support it. I check on Synaptic Package Manger. Look like those files that I saw on there is for Mozilla and firewalling (Eh misspelled? Red underline is showing.). Anyway I talk about RejoysTick not joy2pad. Sorry about that. rejoystick.sourceforge.net/index.html RejoysTick the one that doesn't work right. Like I said. I will wait until byuu find away to get the controllers to work on BSNES for Linux. Windows works fine.

<enormous sigh>
Does your controller work with other applications, kinghanco, and is it the only one you have installed? If the answer to both of those questions is yes, then you have an entry for /dev/input/js0. You don't need to search for it: /dev/input/js0 is a location: you go to (the easy way) Places -> Computer -> Filesystem. That'll put you at the root of your filing system. Look for a folder called dev. Open it. look for a folder called input. Open it. Is there a file called js0? Quod Erat Duhmonsterandumb.
Ubuntu doesn't come with it. It creates it when it recognises your controller.
I have no idea whether RejoysTick works or not. Try joy2key. Not joy2pad, joy2key. And you still haven't corrected the link in your previous post.

Ok I found it. joy2key is install. Now how I point to joy2key and /dev/js0 at the same time? ================= Ok this won't work? joy2key -dev /dev/input/js0 mitchell@pc-desktop:~$ joy2key -dev /dev/input/js0 joy2key - reads joystick status and dispatches keyboard events By Peter Amstutz (tetron@interreality.org) This is free software under the GNU General Public License (GPL v2) (see COPYING in the joy2key archive) You are welcome to use/modify this code, and please e-mail me if anything cool comes of it! Must specify a target! mitchell@pc-desktop:~$ ========================= I try this as well. It confused? mitchell@pc-desktop:~$ joy2key -dev /dev/input/js0 /dev/js0 joy2key - reads joystick status and dispatches keyboard events By Peter Amstutz (tetron@interreality.org) This is free software under the GNU General Public License (GPL v2) (see COPYING in the joy2key archive) You are welcome to use/modify this code, and please e-mail me if anything cool comes of it! Unknown option /dev/js0 Usage: joy2key ["Window Name"] [ -rawconsole ] [ -terminal ] [ -X ] [ -axis [(axis0) low hi] [(axis1) low hi] ... ] [ -thresh [(axis0) low hi] [(axis1) low hi] ... ] [ -buttons [(button0)] [(button1)] [(button2)] ... ] [ -dev {/dev/js0} ] [ -rcfile {.joy2keyrc} ] [ -config {no default} ] [ -autorepeat {(freq) 5} ] [ -deadzone {(percent) 50} ]
note: [] denotes `optional' option or argument, () hints at the wanted arguments for options {} denotes default (compiled-in) parameters mitchell@pc-desktop:~$ I don't know what I'm doing. There no option pop up on the screen! This is crap. You even try this before telling me it works?

I've never used joy2key, kinghanco, but lots of other people do. My guess is, you need to find its configuration file, look for the line that points it to /dev/js0 and change it to /dev/input/js0

joy2key is pain in the head. Trash it with BSNES.

Mitchell, for your own good, take a minute to think about this.
Do you realize that because of the way you are responding here, people are going to end up not bothering to help you solve your problems or explain things to you?
Patrick has put in a lot of time and effort to push you in the right direction this time. And many times before.

I'm sorry this is causing you problems.
However, I'm not willing to link bsnes official against SDL just for gamepad support. I can't stand that library. So unless someone else contributes some working code to support joypads in a uniform manner across Linux, BSD and hopefully Solaris / Unix derivatives, I likely won't be adding joypad support anytime soon.
I don't know, if it's really that big of a deal, perhaps I can write the wrapper and make an optional platform build type. x-gcc-lui-suck_edition or somesuch that binds with SDL.

Sune
Many people try to help me. But they are fuse to tell me how things work and having me quit messing with a lot of things. I even try to make things work and it fail to work. It ether they don't have the same linux as I do or they keep on throwing faqs at me and keep on tell me that I need to finger it out on my own.
I have been using bsnes on windows. It better to use it on windows anyway.
I might move pSX back onto windows. The screen runs much better and I can use rumble on some games.
Remember if I can't the things to run right on linux then I will move those back onto windows. There is no need to keep on making me try again and over again for 100 times.

kinghanco: I can understand your frustration easily. I would probably feel the same way if I was having problems I couldn't fix. But try to understand that hardly anybody here has the same specs/situations as you, so there are times that they can't 100% relate to your problems on a personal level. Even so, they are at least trying their best to do what they can to help you. If they didn't suggest things they couldn't test, you would get almost no suggestions at times because they aren't under the same circumstances to be *able* to test their possible solutions for you. The best they can do most of the time is offer you educated ideas for you to try out. Isn't that better than getting no response at all if they weren't sure how to fix your problem?

I know everyone trying their best to help me out. I glad they even try to help me out than nobody step up to help. I'm not flaming anyone here. Don't have to worry about that.
