It's a DVD/CD Burner, apparently the first of the Plextor name to handle double-layer DVD-burning. There seems to be a lot of them for sale too. I've bidded on one for $46 (plus $10 for shipping/handling). Mainly I've been needing to replace my current drive, as it sucked from the start and has been slowing failing to properly burn discs for the last few months now. Has anybody heard anything about this drive I'm going for, or even tried it out? It's a Plextor, which is obviously one of the best names out there for disc drives. It burns many types of discs that other drives can't handle. It can read damaged/warped discs due to some liquid crystal/3-D lens motion technology that I've never heard of. For $56 all-together, it doesn't sound too much like a bad deal. Just wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the drive itself...

"Warped" would be meaning... it isn't perfectly flat anymore. I don't know how, but apparently it can read discs that are slightly bent/warped, as if they were left in the sun for too long or something. I'm sure there are tight limitations on that, but no matter... the fact itself is amazing enough.
Unfortunately, somebody tried to outbid me, and so I ended up having to pay $71 for it. Still a much better price than trying to buy it otherwise.
