Well, I just helped Tomasz (aka dox) with figuring out what the DSP did on that hardware - I didn't do that much - I just guessed what it was doing I know some of the MAME developers from irc and chat with them regularly.

*pssst*
I've also heard that pSXAuthor has been sharing the source code of pSX with mamedev.
There's not a lot of ego on the sk33n today. It was different in the old days, it was more competitive and there was a lot more elitist bullshit. These days everyone who's at the forefront seem to be sharing what they know. The pros are getting their groove on.

I don't think the PlayStation driver in MESS would ever do much, even with the CD-ROM hooked up, even if it did end up going to the memory card screen again.
In MESS, there would not be a way to run CDs (CHD files) without a 'dirty hack', disabling the lockout chip.
I've noticed the MAME Chat forum (MAMEWorld) isn't as used by far as the 'official' MAME forum used to be. It probably needed to be killed off, since in its last days it had nothing but spam going through it.
I haven't been on IRC in around 3-4 years, which server would #mame be on (if that's the channel name)?

I'm honestly glad to see the ego thing starting to disappear. I've seen a few stupid and pointless wars in my day, and I've been a bit concerned at some things I've seen within the MAME team in regards to negativity between devs.

Well, I've always found that the more you share, the more you learn. And if you're good at what you do (and I'd say pSX Author is), my experience is that you tend to come out ahead, as well.
