the playstation games code is writen in C. so all one has to do is compile it for windows or linux or whatever??

Not at all; C isn't inherently portable. If it were so simple to port games and software, people wouldn't be complaining about the lack of software titles for the PS3.

well one has to write an compiler then, that gives optimized games (for windows too maybe).

If it was so simple I'm sure there would have been more psx games ported to pc at it's prime.

I never thought anyone would forget that the commercial PlayStation game developers wouldn't include the source code to their game, with the game... -_-

Yet it would be great if they did, huh? We would be able to fix some of the nasty limitations of PSX games, like the exagerated fog on some racing games and the shakey textures (even though I'm almost sure that the polygons shake, not the textures). On the other hand, we wouldn't want emulators anymore, as people would just prefer to port games to the PC, or even other consoles, with lots of enhancements, and without needing a great PC to run the games.
