When I was still a kid, I remember all the gaming magazines talking about how violent and gory Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 where; I remember that when MK3 was released, even though the death scenes where lame, it was considered too violent for kids. But its weird how they never talked about a underrated little game on the Sega CD called Eternal Champions CD (wich was an upgraded version of the Genesis version). This week I bought this game for 15 bucks on e-bay just to see if its at least fun, but whan got me by surprise is how violent the game actually is! WAY more gory than any of the MKs, and also with more detailed death scenes... and the game is actually fun to play (it fixed some of the gameplay problems of the Genesis version). But its funny that the gaming magazines never even talked about how violent this game is, but complained about a badly drawn head being chopped from someone in MK3... I know that the diference is that MK was a success, this wasn't, but if you consider that a game like Nighttrap (another quite unknown game at the time) was taken out of the stores because of violent content, something seems odd in here... I'm wondering though if anyone else in here ever played this game, and what are your impressions of it. Here some pics of the most violent fatalities (the animated gifs I found on the net. The other images I've taken myself using Gens): EDIT for the mods: I haven't seen anything on the rules about violent images on the site, but if these are too violent, feel free to remove them.

Cool... Never heard of that game before, though. And yes, it seems way more violent than the average fighting games around.

Hahaha.
I think one of the reasons why this game (both the original genesis version and the updated CD version) never made it or gained any attention is because they were console only games. MK games started from arcade, gained a following and boom. And of course, it's a Sega only game, and around these parts atleast all Sega stuff went largely unnoticed.

I remember playing that game on the Genesis for awhile. Was a nice alternative to the MK craze at the time.

The Genesis version wasn't that good though. Suffered from lots of balancing issues, gameplay problems, and had no blood (well, just some small splats).
