Game Title: Tekken 2 Game ID(s): SLUS-00213 pSX Version(s): 1.7
Seems to work flawlessly in 1.7, but not in 1.12 like reported or 1.13......doesn't even load in these versions.

I'm afraid it might be that way for some time, nj7.

I tested the PAL version (SCES-00255) a while back which has the same results. Best stick to pSX 1.7 for Tekken 2, as it is clearly the best and fastest in terms of emulation, ePSXe / Pete's (including PEOpS of course) GPU plugin range has nothing on this one, unless you live on the PCSX2 forums over at NGEmu and spend $3000 on a brand new computer every year.
The Japanese version of Tekken 2 (SLPS-00300) needs testing, and that will be the last of them for the list.

Going to update this to indicate it doesn't work for v1.12. In the end, we got one report saying the game worked in v1.12 and 1.13, and several that says it does not.
Previous reports say the game works for v1.7 and 1.8, so I'll recommend v1.8.
Has anybody tried a PAL bios with the US version of Tekken 2 yet?

Anyone sure it actually worked in 1.8? I can't imagine it working in 1.8 as that was the version which the PAL version broke. Care to test out 1.8, nj7?

I'm finding this very curious. Much like mod-protected games such as Tomba 2 or Wild Arms 2, the game works in v1.7-1.8.
But this title is unique in that it still won't run otherwise, even with a PAL bios.
Again, it makes me wonder what pSX Author had in v1.7-1.8 that got so many games working, but apparently was then disabled for v1.9.

Since 1.7 was the version in which pSX Author introduced subcode reading, smeg, it might be that he didn't fully implement it until version 1.9. The partial implementation may have allowed mod-protected games to play without the mod protection kicking in; when it was fully implemented, perhaps the mod protection then kicked in and saw the multi-region emulator as a chipped Playstation. Just a guess, though.

It makes me wonder if there's perhaps a way to set this up as a switch or option for future versions of pSX? If you had the option to turn on/off full implementation of subcode reading, this would then kill the need for a PAL bios on many of these games.
Maybe this is something pSX Author would be willing to explore.

I have to say I was wondering the same thing, smeg.
