I'm running windows xp, and for some reason, when I set the CDRom to iocontrol, it still tells me I need ASPI installed. Any help would be appreciated.

I too have read the FAQ's and no mention of this error. I have downloaded the dll file but now where to put it? I tried windows, system, system32, as well as the psx folder itself to no avail. any help please?

Here, this installs ASPI. For use of Win9x, XP, and XP 64-bit. But read the included "readme" for how to install it.

I've found that (in W2K, at least) IOCTL only seems to be available in accounts with administrator rights. You can get round this by downloading and installing Nero BurnRights from www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Nero_BurnRights.html.

What I dont get is when I use a cdr backup, games run fine, but when I use an actual psx disc it stutters like crazy. Why is that?
I did just buy the cd/dvd dual layer burner for my laptop, but everything else runs fine with it. Are laptop drive's suppose to slower than desktop drive's? I also tried epsxe to test, and got even worst results. Not only were the psx discs slow, but so were the cdr backups on epsxe.
Any help/hints would be appreciated ;P

I had the same problem. ASPI shouldn't be needed if one wants to use IoControl. But pSX doesn't seem to work without ASPI at all, that's quite annoying.

See my previous post in this thread. If you're running in an account that doesn't have administrator rights, you won't have access to the low-level drivers, i.e. IOCTL. Download and run Nero BurnRights (in an administrator account); this will enable you to assign access to IOCTL in non-administrator accounts.
Otherwise, it's got to be ASPI.

I have administrator rights, and it still won't go to iocontrol, for some reason, it won't even change the resolution unless I edit the ini file.
