I know this is a very long shot, but it probably won't hurt to try.
I had been running the latest pSX on my OpenSUSE 10.2 system for many months without any problems. Everything worked just fine.
Recently I upgraded to OpenSUSE 11.0, and a small (but annoying) problem started to happen with pSX. I have not changed pSX's own settings in any way, ie. they are the same as in the old system.
The problem is: In fullscreen mode the emulation lags for about a half second at regular intervals. The interval is 1 minute 23 seconds (yes, I timed it). In other words, each 1 minute 23 seconds, accurate to the second, the emulator hangs for about a half second (it just stops completely) and then continues normally. Note that:
- This did not happen in OpenSUSE 10.2, it's only happening now that I have OpenSUSE 11.0.
- This happens only in fullscreen mode. In the default windowed mode there's no lag.
- I upgraded the ATI linux driver for my ATI video card to the latest version alongside the system upgrade.
- Changing the pSX sound and other settings (which I have tried) have absolutely no effect.
- I have a system monitor running (gkrellm) and it does not show any CPU or hard disk usage peak when pSX lags. I can't see anything out of normal at that moment (or at any moment for that matter).
- I have no idea if the 1 min 23 seconds interval has any significant meaning. However, the interval is always the same, accurate to the second.
It's not a huge bother (because one and a half minute is a relatively long interval), but it's still mildly annoying.
Perhaps someone would have some suggestions I could try?
