OK I started using this emu yesterday and I set up my gamepad and it worked great. I have a dual analog+vibration pad so I chose that one in the options.
But today the gamepad just stopped working, I got it to work when I selected that I have just a regular no analog/vibration pad.
I didnt change anything in the emu itself or on my computer from yesterday, why can't I play with analog/vibration now ?
In BIOS when analog gamepad is selected I don't even have a cursor, so its not some game that working I cant move in BIOS either if you are wondering.
PS The gamepad works flawlessly in other games/softvare.

The PlayStation began before the DualShock, so many games do not function on this controller mode. Please use the Normal Pad mode for the BIOS and Non DualShock games.

I know that The problem is I was playing a game that supports analog+vibration and it worked fine, next day I wanted to continue that game and gamepad didnt work, I had to change it to Normal Pad for it to start working again. It's not a huge problem since Im mostly playing RPGs, but its bugging me because one day it worked and next day it didnt

I'm aware that the English Translation patch for Tales of Phantasia has a bit of a problem with the DS mode on while it starts up to the translation selection screen. Could be a similar issue.

It'd be extremely helpful if you named the game you're having this problem with.

@gamesoul Master Like I said it is not a game related problem. The gamepad doesn't even work in the BIOS menu, only when standard pad is selected it works. But analog must be turned on for it to work even then When I select analog+rumble or dualshock it just doesn't work, and again on the first day it worked like a charm in BIOS and in games I tried deleting the pSX folder and unpacking again but same situation, in the game pad configuration menu it all works (I can setup the analog sticks) but in the emu it self, no chance.

This is normal. On the physical controller, it had a mode button (Analog) that switched between DualShock and Normal mode. On start-up the controller is set on normal until the game (but not all that support DS) sends a special signal to the controller to activate the DualShock mode. At this moment, pSX does not have a current method to handle this signal activation. So manual Configuration is required.

i had a similar problem problem with my controller (dualshock2 with usb-psx adapter in the middle).
everything worked fine after setting up the controller the first time, after that it would start rumbling as soon as the sony logo appeard. i tried using the Analog-Button of the controller itself, didn't change anything. the rumbling would stop, but also would the 2 analogue sticks, that always worked fine.
this happend, as far as i remember, with any game that supported rumble effects. definitely with vagrant story (german pal), silent hill 1 (german pal, sles-01514) and final fantasy 9 (us ntsc, slus-01251).
