I'm the ROM hacker on the Policenauts Translation Project (7 known bugs til beta) and we have a pretty big snag. Policenauts actually causes an unhandled exception in pSX, which prompts you for a memory dump before exiting. This happens during the end credits - unfortunately, there's more game content after the credits.
I'm currently using pSXrel (with the debugger) v1.13, though I've confirmed it happens in 1.13 without the debugger and with different BIOSes, in the original game (not with our hacks in place). This is Policenauts Disc 2, SLPS_002.16
We're pretty sure this is actually Konami doing something strange - while the end credits (and the FMV after them) run fine on hardware, ePSXe doesn't quite run them correctly, so we think it's something broken in the game that just happens to work out okay on the console.
I guess what I'm asking is - is there a way I can use the pSX crash dump to determine exactly what the unhandled exception was? Even more hopefully, see what instruction pSX tried to run before it died? I tried opening up the mini crash dump, but it just looks like a bunch of hex to me (can't tell what it was really doing at crash) and the full dump... well, not sure where to begin.
I didn't post this in compatibility issues, since there's an old thread on Policenauts anyway, and I'm not really sure this is an emulator problem, so much as a specific game one.
Thanks for your time.
