Title: Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman ID: SLUS_008.29 pSX Version: 1.13 (Windows and Linux)
Comments:
Game plays perfectly until the tutorial or a level is finished. After showing the after-level score screen, the screen fades to black as normal. The game hangs at this black screen indefinitely. I've tried this on Windows and Linux and the result was exactly the same.
Edit: I just re-checked, and the disk works fine on my PS2 and ePSXe 1.6.0 (in Windows) without this problem.

Have you tried using the -r switch? And are you playing from the original disc or a disc image? What BIOS have you tried?

The -r option didn't seem to have any effect.
I'm running the game from the original disk, using an SCPH1001 BIOS image I've been using for years with many different emulators and had good results with. I can't seem to get a good BIN/CUE ripped from the disk, most likely due to abuse (I bought it pre-owned for $2, what do you expect? :-p). That said, as I mentioned before, the game plays fine in ePSXe and on my PS2.

Well, it sounds like you have the essentials covered then. It probably *is* a compatibility problem then, unfortunately.
Last resort efforts would include trying to get a good image by using a program like CloneCD or Alcohol 52%/120% to rip a ccd/img/sub or mdf/mds image and trying that, or trying a different CD/DVD drive. But if it plays in the PS2 (which isn't always the most dependable for reading discs anyway) and ePSXe, odds are usually pretty good that it'd run in pSX if it wasn't a compatibility problem.
