Hello there
I'm using pSX on Gentoo Linux, on a very optimized system. It uses Nvidia OpenGL on a Core2Duo (2Ghz) machine, with ALSA sound on a Realtek integrated chip (ALC889).
I'm getting sound buffer underruns (with their corresponding sound crackling) whenever I set a sound buffer under 30ms in pSX. I must use a 48000Hz output rate (native to my audio chip) to minimize the effect. Is that normal? I was getting the same results in an Atom (1.6) machine time ago...
What's the expected sound buffer size for a 2GHz core2duo machine in order to get full crackle-free sound? I can rise mine to get it, but I would like to know if there's something wrong with my system's configuration.
I'm talking about XA / streamed audio-video here.
regards
