My controller keeps switching the up and down on the left analog stick. even clicking reverse in the settings doesn't change this. Any ideas?
ps - The controller never worked properly from the start. The controller is fine, it works in other programs perfectly.

Logitech Dual Action
In fact, ALL the directional buttons / axis are backwards!

Maybe I didn't... but that also doesn't explain why it has now stopped working entirely.

Try reading the other few questions in that post. If that still doesn't help, you're going to have to describe your problem better before anyone can really help you.

To answer the reversed Digital Pad, the button shapes are a bit awkward when looking at them individually. The Flat edge its the direction instead of the Point, refer to a real (Sony) PlayStation controller to understand better if needed.
The non-working issue could be a unsupported Game Pad mode/setting like DualShock, early PlayStation games (and a few after) do not support DualShock (and analog+rumble) modes. Just set the Normal Pad mode/setting when playing these games, hopefully pSX will later support the toggle button found on the DualShock and the auto setting function some games had.
