I have all of my firewall/etc. disabled. I had thought that might have been the reason as well. No luck. The files are also virus/spyware-free.

Can you download the exe with logging support from the pSX homepage and see if it prints any extra messages please? (the exe is called psxrel.exe, so make sure you run the right one).

i think the problem comes because the emulator try to reset the gfx before the initialization. and i think the gfx should be initialized before the reset.
well i think that´s the problem.

9 days later, no word on how to fix this problem. Oh well. Perhaps future versions will work better for me. 1.4 just doesn't want to.

What security software do you happen to be using? What other processes are running in the background? Have you tried testing an older version of pSX to see if the problem persists? Updated your graphics card drivers? Have you tried aruantec's suggestion?

I've tried all of that. Older versions have the same problem.
Personally, I think it's this version of Windows (Media Center). It really seems to hate anything involving Command Prompts.
