Ok, I understand the need for .bin/cue cdz etc.
However out of pure curiosity (plus I got bored). Wondering why mounting a .mdf or some other format image to a drive why it refuses to boot past the playstation logo? Just missing extra information that's in the .bin, or does it still turn out to be just a file difference (.mdf compared to .bin in this case) problem?
Dunno been botherin the hell outta me, been trying to figure out why it won't boot off a mounted image. (yes i do own the games and it works off the cds)

Mounting it how? If you use something like daemon tools it should work. Currently pSX only supports .cue/bin (and .cdz which is a compressed form of .cue/bin).

Yeah I'm usin daemon to mount it to a drive, the .bin of the image works fine, the .mdf refuses to boot past the PSX logo. I dunno what the heck to even think.

So you are saying that mounting the .bin file with daemon tools works? If so I would guess that the .mdf file is corrupt, or incorrect in some way... If you are using daemon tools pSX doesn't even know which format of file you are using - daemon tools emulates a cd drive... as far as pSX is concerned it is reading off a real CD drive.

well figured it out, for some odd reason (never had to do this with any other PSX .mdf) I had to emulate the protection options in Daemon and it runs now, forgot those emulation options in Daemon were even there.

It would be nice if psx emulator could read from mdf and mds directly .

More image format support will likely be added in the future...
