I've tried everything to get pSX to change resolution, but it's always the same. I want the resolution to change from default to 1024 x 768 so I can see the games I play in High Definition. Can someone please help me to change the resolution? Thank you.

While you can change your fullscreen monitor resolution, pSX is not meant to play games in hi-def. It is meant to accurately emulate the PS1. So if you want hi-def, you are gonna have to look elsewhere. If you want accurate emulation with no plugins and great compatibility, stay here. For the high def stuff you are talking about, try epsxe. Plugins are annoying though...

True, he won't be able to see the games in 'high definition;' nevertheless, increasing the resolution should improve the quality of the image. filippo333: for the full screen resolution setting, go to the Graphics tab in pSX' configuration. You'll see a dropdown boxes there for NTSC and PAL resolutions.

Eh increasing the size would actually make it worse. Think about stretching <-- this to 1600x1200, and how ugly it would look when stretched (even with filtering). Anyhow, it sounds (from this thread, and his request thread) like he's looking for the quality to improve not unlike with the PSEmuPro-based emulators =X

No, because if you're playing full screen, it's already stretched to the size it's going to be anyway, regardless of the resolution you use. In fact, to a large extent, the opposite seems to happen, it seems to reduce the size of jaggies etc.

1600x1200 in full screen works. I just now test it with pSX Frontend v1.09. Look the same as the 1280x1024. I don't see no different setting it at any sizes in full screen.

Because it shouldn't look all too different. On LCD screens, though, using full-screen resolutions that aren't the LCD's native resolution will blur things, which seems to reduce jags. Why? Because LCDs have a fixed number of pixels, and all of them need to be filled if you actually want to have full-screen, so it has to do weird stuff with stretching.
Stretching images never improves the image quality, since stretching entails that whatever does the stretching fills in the added pixels with guesstimations (read: ugly depending on what resizing/filtering algorithm is used, but ugly for most of them anyway). It might make things easier to see/read, but wouldn't make the quality any better (well, simple-looking 2D games might be an exception, I suppose).
