I would like some of the bugs resolved. Some here might wish to say that its a "compatibility issue". Quite frankly, an emulator -as so many have pointed out- should emulate. My PlayStation does not crash at random for any game. I know the pSX is relatively stable. But adding features and ignoring maintenance brings the value of a product down. I would suggest using something like pc-lint for C++. Just a suggestion Well, I think you need to try writing an emulator - none of the compatibility issues are bugs per-se. There is no documentation that describes in enough detail exactly how the playstation works - its not just a case of implementing some spec - there is no spec! Most of the details of the hardware have to be divined by experimentation and watching what programs do. It is unavoidable that some games will not work and that changing things will sometimes cause regressions for other games.. this is a fact of emulation. Sometimes I do introduce real bugs into the emulator, but so far there have not been that many.

How does pSX determine if a game needs subcode reading or not? Should I just leave it on the Auto setting? -Sune Its very difficult to know if subcode reading is needed or not, so at the moment it is always enabled (as long as you don't set it to Disabled). Yes, you should leave it on Auto unless you have any problems. For CD images subcode reading is obviously only enabled when using a CloneCD image with a .sub file (or a .cdz produced from such an image file).

You don't need to use cdz - pSX supports: cue/bin, iso, bin, ccd/img/cue[/sub] and real CDs too... cdz is just a way to compress a CD image to take less disk space.

I don't like the word 'request' - here's a suggestion: How about an option to read the subcode seperately and store it on the harddrive? This will help people who have optical drives that read the subcode slowly. -Sune Does your CD drive suffer from this problem? I find it hard to believe that this is a real problem because the CD drive _has_ to read the subcode even when reading the CD normally - I can't see why it would be any slower... The way it works is that the MMC command for readcd has an extra parameter that specifies whether or not to return subcode (there are several formats supported, pSX tries a couple of different options). If someone can confirm that this is a real problem I will add a way to extract the subcode to a file.

- Option to disable picture stretch. pSX never stretches the image... I'm not sure what you mean - the aspect ratio should always be correct. - Auto resolution switching. This isn't really possible: the ps1 supports all combinations of 256,320,384,512 and 640 for width, 240 and 480 for height (256 and 512 for PAL). PC video cards just do not support modes like 512x240 which is very very common in ps1 games.

Just a minor suggestion here. I'd like to see a toggle for fast forward rather than just holding down the "backspace" key. And perhaps adding a multiplier for fast forward so you can fast forward more than at the current default rate. When you press the fast forward key pSX executes as fast as your computer can manage... so there is no easy way to make it faster then the current rate. I suppose I could make it skip frames, but that may cause problems in some games (since they might be doing frame buffer effects, or even copying stuff back to main memory from vram that the game code relies on) - it would have to be optional.

Unfortunately as of D3D9 GDI (ie. windows UI) cannot be drawn in full screen mode. This is why the emulator drops back to windowed mode.
A quick way to get into the menus when running full screen is simply to press Alt... this will automatically switch to windowed mode and open the menus, when you finish using the menus it will automatically switch back to full screen mode.

2) fast forward in Full screen is a bit buggy.. when you press the key, the game freeze for a second after that it starts to go fast forward... when you release the key the game freezes again in window mode it doesn't happen... This is probably a driver issue on your machine. When you press fast forward pSX has to disable vsync, this means resetting the device. How long that takes is up to the driver... its nice and fast on my machine.

Hi, i have many isos than somebody add a menu (like Paradox one), and i can´t start the game, but in epsxe runs perfectly, anyway your emu is great and i like it so much. Vayan por detrás jejejeje sorry for my ugly english. Probably the menu doesn't support DualShock mode - make sure the pad mode is set to "Normal pad"...

pSX will create a blank memory card for you if you do the following:
Go into the Memory Card config screen, press "...", type in a filename and click Ok.
Or you can just type a name in the edit box....
Maybe this is confusing - I'll try to think of a way to make it better (perhaps I could add a "New" button or something).

fwiw - I am not refusing to add netplay - its just not very high on my list of priorities... it'll get done eventually.
Its not some trivial feature I can knock up in an afternoon - I think my time is better spent on other stuff atm.

Hehe - no - I don't want your money.
I have already ported (an earlier version of) pSX to XBox, but there are a couple of reasons I don't want to release it. One reason is that it doesn't quite manage to run at 100% speed. The other reason I can't go into here.

There is another reason I can't release an XBOX port anyway... which I can't really go into...
