Lol. Emulator names aren't the best. I can come up with good names for a lot of stuff, but when it comes to emulators, it's very hard to come up with something that sounds cool. Emulator names aren't the most innovative either. Some are actually cool though. pSX Author never said anything when there were discussions about name changes in the past. So I guess he doesn't have interest in a name change.
btw: Does anyone know why the p in pSX is lowercase? Is it like that so it could be distinguished from PSX because it would cause trademark issues?

In other news, over english tea, I like your avatar. I always tried to shoot that bloody dog! I can still hear that awful laugh of his
Of course wiki tells me a magnifying glass could be used to cheat by tricking the gun into believing the white box over the sprite filled the entire screen....clever huh
And I appear to have gone offtopic

Indeed, other people have suggested a name change as well, not sure how pSX Author thinks of it, but I personally don't mind the name too much. And I don't think the original PlayStation was actually called PSX officially by Sony, so technically, it shouldn't be a source of confusion (though we all know that's not the case ). Oh well. Go with 'pSX.exe' instead of 'psxfin.exe' - It's THAT ugly, though not important. As for the Eyecandy-thing i think most of the people want compatibility first, then maybe eye-candy. Eye-candy is easy to implement, compatibility is not. Super Ultra PSX Emulator Turbo EX+2 ... Alpha 3? ;D

This is my first post here First of all great job on the PSX emulator, at this point in time it's very close to the compatibility of ePSXe (in some instances even better) I've been working on several emulator projects (mainly for the MSX scene) as both a beta tester and developer. I've been playing a lot of Castlevania SOTN on the PSX emulator. 1.8 had small bugs with graphical glitched but this was fixed in 1.9. although it still locks up once a while. I like what I see and I also would like to do a request for a build in cheat finder. (I know it has been overly requested) This is one I made a long time ago: forum.openmsx.org/viewtopic.php?t=34 (command line based) Keep up the good work!

Herra likely means PS2 emulation in pSX =T Indeedly doo. So we have a good amount of time to decide on whther to put that Alpha 3 in the name or not.

LOL... still trying to think of names...
- HAPE (High Accuracy Playstation Emulator)... not so good - PSXPro or PSPro - UltimatePSX or UltimatePS - PSXMaster or PSMaster
Trying to think of simple, yet interesting names... I figured having no spaces is preferred, but either way I guess. Thinking that it definitely should have "PSX" or "PS" in the name, considering that since the emulator is based on *accurately* emulating the Playstation as much as possible, it should have its initials in the name.
This thread is so derailed, it's pointless to try and get it back on track. Besides, there isn't really a "track" to get back on anyway... the original topic is a rather dead topic considering there is no chance of contributions beyond what is done on this forum.
Edit: Could flip those names around too (MasterPSX, ProPSX, etc)... HEY, I think they're good names! XD

I really like PSXPro. That sounds really cool. It's doesn't sound corny and it makes the emulator sound professional. I would vote for that if pSX Author ever decided to make a name change. PSXMaster? You just want a part of your name in there somewhere dont you GM ? HAPE? LOL. No comment...

Yeah, I think PSXPro is the best one. I searched on google and didn't find anything for it, so it's not taken as the name of any program or site. Of course, I could've suggested "MasterOfPSX"... now doesn't that have a nice ring to it...? Or maybe we could go with ShadowPSX... LOL

"ps.fire"... that sounds pretty cool too. Alright, so the only two suggestions with any kind of popularity right now are "PSXPro/PSPro" and "ps.fire"... I'm keeping my vote for "PSXPro"... partially because I came up with it, and partly because I really do think it's one of the best choices right now. Not that it really matters... since the current name may *never* change...
