When I first heard of this emulator I thought that the dogs of war have sh*t all over the PSX emulation scene.
I was the one who was basically blinded by the false eye candy. ePSXe had given us something nice to look at, if the hardware had that edge back then. It did not.
The emus of the past gave us ugly updates. I wanted my old games old after all, not tweaked. Like putting Godzilla in a CGI movie. (Whoops!)
Upon looking at the compatibility success and the speed, over the hardware "Look ma! Filtering!", I know now that this was the best move to make PSX emulation a reality in it's true form.
Case in point, have you seen what the hardware driven EMU's do to games such as Tekken 2 and so on? WOW, great textures on an old 3d model/mesch. Now they all look detailed but have facial disorders.
This is my feedback, and I am sticking to it bros.

Is this good or bad? XD I really can't tell.
I think this is the way to go with emulators. Just do the system's original look and sound plain and simple. No need for crap like 2xsai or HQ3x and dithering and crap like that.
If compatability keeps on going up on the track that it's on I will continue to be a fan of this guy's work.

I cannot reply to the feature request because the reply button seems to have gone awol.
Anyway, my request is an extra 2 joypads for 4 player games like micro machines v3.
BTW, this emulator is so much more stable than epsxe...all that messing around GONE and in its place a wonderful, fast, precise and accurate emulation. I spent more time on epsxe setting up the plugins (and still FF7 was buggy, slow and innacurate)..with this I just set up control pad and that is it. I am amazed at the accuracy and stability.
So thanks, whoever the head honcho is here.
My only criticism is that this emu is not widely known. Maybe different methods of advertisement are in order? All the ppl I know will be using this by next week I guarentee you that.
Also, Yes I know netplay is a "not allowed" subject and I am not requesting it...what I will request is that IF it is ever implemented, you do not use kaillera....because it is buggy and crap. Just a thought. Looking forward to 1.9, once again...THANKS

Hm, I personally think the "advertising" bit is covered fairly well, mostly by the major emulation sites, but also by word-of-mouth (as you are probably doing .

Well I am into alot of emulation but it took a while to find this. Now don't take this the wrong way, but 1 nice suggestion would be maybe to change the name?
PSX is the "real name" of PS1 so it gets lost when looking for an emulator for...PSX lol
EPSXE on the other hand is unique name. Just a thought (again).

Indeed, other people have suggested a name change as well, not sure how pSX Author thinks of it, but I personally don't mind the name too much. And I don't think the original PlayStation was actually called PSX officially by Sony, so technically, it shouldn't be a source of confusion (though we all know that's not the case ). Oh well.

I downloaded it, and I noticed that the directional pad buttons are inversed, and it doesn't look like it was done on purpose, just thought you should know...i'm happy to test this program all the time, it's great!

You should probably check the real PlayStation controller and compare the direction pad with the images shown...

I think PSX was the code name for it when it was still on developement. Or that's what I heard way back when. Like say, maybe comparable to Ultra64 which then became Nintendo 64, or Dolphin -> Gamecube. But don't quote me on any of this. ;D

I heard that too. I think a name change would be good too, but most likely it will be something cornier like PSMagic or something.
