I have the recommended bios image (scph1001), which works fine with other emus, but no matter where I put it, (and edit the ini file accordingly), the program doesn't recognize it and keeps telling me that the bios is not found. I tried the bios directory, even C: root, etc. but no luck. I have Win98, but I don't think that matters here.

I have the same problem, bios not recognised, no mater where I put it. I also have win98. I have used scph1001.bin, scph1000.bin, scph5000.bin, scph5500.bin, scph7502.bin and bios41A.bin. none of them worked

Hi,
By default you need to put it in the "bios" folder - make sure you have extracted the .rar with paths enabled (there should be several folders off the main one).
If this doesn't work post again giving the full path of the .bin file and the PS1=... line from the .ini file.
Thanks.

btw: all PS1 bioses _should_ work - scph1001.bin is the only well tested one though.

I have followed your suggerences, spxAuthor, but without results Here is the first part of my psx.ini: [Paths] SaveStatePath=saves MemoryCardPath=cards CDImagePath=cdimages [BIOS] PS1=C:\pSX_1_0\bios\scph1001.bin PS2=C:\pSX_1_0\bios\scph7502.bin [Input] Key1Select=57 Key1Start=28 Key1Up=200 Key1Right=205 Key1Down=208 Key1Left=203 etc, etc, etc... I tried both absolute and relative paths, and tried to rename the bios files uppercase, lowercase, and a lot of ways. My windows is configured in spanish language (Spain's where I'm from). Maybe it may have something to do? As I said before, I'm using Windows 98 SE. I'll also post you a link to a screen capture I made with the emulator running and giving me the error, and all the folders containing the emulator and bios folder. I'll post you the url as soon as I upload the image somewhere.

Hmm - everything looks okay - I'm not sure what the problem is.
Can you try changing the line in the .ini file to :
PS1=bios\scph1001.bin
(ie. without the c:\ maybe thats throwing it off).
It may be a problem with Spanish Windows like you say, but I wouldn't have thought it would matter...
It may also be a problem with win98 - has anyone else been able to get it running on win98?

I simply don't know what can be the cause of this, maybe a bug when running the emu on win9x (ah, I forgot to say, I have directx 9.0c installed). Maybe in a next version the bug will be able to be fixed once we discover the cause. Well, anyway, thank you very much for your concern.

hi again. I downloaded and executed filemon. But it's the first time I use this program, so I don't know well how to use it. Nevertheless, I paste some of the lines in wich seems that psx is searching his folders, or something. I didn't see anything about accessing to scph1001 or something. Only the line in 311 looks for the bios folder, and it apears "succes". I didn't find anuthing more that makes references to the bios files:
308 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS . 309 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS .. 310 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS dbghelp.dll 311 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS bios 312 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS cdimages 313 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS memcards 314 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS saves 315 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS utils 316 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS d3dx9_26.dll 317 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS psx.ini 318 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS psxfin.exe 319 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS readme.txt 320 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindNext C:\PSX_1_0\*.* NOMORE 321 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS 322 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS pSX_1_0 331 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS pSX_1_0 332 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS 340 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS pSX_1_0 341 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS 343 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS pSX_1_0 344 2:13:23 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS 350 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS pSX_1_0 351 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS 352 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS psxfin.exe 353 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 FindClose C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS 354 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 Attributes C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS GetAttributes 355 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 Attributes C:\PSX_1_0 SUCCESS GetAttributes 356 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 Open C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS OPENEXISTING READONLY DENYNONE 357 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 Attributes C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS Get Access 358 2:13:24 Explorer:FFFEA9B9 Attributes C:\PSX_1_0\PSXFIN.EXE SUCCESS Set Access
I pasted only his part couse the entire log size is about 1800 lines XDDD but if you need it, I can send to you by mail all the log. Also I used grep to get only the lines where strings like "psx" or "Psx" appears, so it not be so tired to dive between almost 2000 lines. I f you need those logs, just tell me and I'll send them to you.
Now I'm going to try processExplorer.

Sorry for not giving explicit instructions. Make sure you run the filemon before hand if you didn't already(no mean to insult if you did) and use the Oil Filter Icon and replace the filter * with *psx* although its image name might be different, I haven't checked yet.(it will be the same thing as its process name in ctrl-alt-del or procexp) , run the emulator and post the results.
The lines should be like 308 2:13:23 psx(or whaterver under spanish windows):FFFEA9B9 FindOpen C:\PSX_1_0\*.* SUCCESS
Also look out for FAIL 's by the emulator.
This will help figuire out which file handle its trying to open when it looks for the bios.
