Wikipedia is not always the best source, since its got limited info on some things. I've read about Mode 7 a in a magazine article that was explaining some thecnical things about some of the major consoles, and the Snes was one of them.
I read that Mode 7 was one of the things that boosted the success of the snes: since other consoles at the time coud'nt do Mode 7, it was a nice advantage on the snes: games like Street Fighter 2 (Mode 7 was used on the floors) where WAY better on the snes than on the Genesis or the TG16 thanks to the Mode 7.

Yeah, Mode 7 did provide the SNES with an added boost (not that it really needed it). I'm just glad that FF5 and FF6 are soon to be released on the GBA (end of the year, apparently). FF3 on the DS is gonna be a little weird. I still don't like the concept of a remade FF game on the DS...
Wikipedia... is nice as a casual source of information, but considering it's written by people like us, the only real checking and editing done is by other readers who may catch mistakes that the author of the "article" page made. Though usually the information is sound, it usually deserves to be double-checked when specific citations are not provided.

You'll note, hoshikuzu, that there are entries for both Chuck Norris and Oregon Trail (the game) on wikipedia, including references to Chuck Norris Facts... ;P
Did you know that the current verified world record final score for Oregon Trail is 53,350 points by Craig Ian Weibman? Does that mean he's tougher than Chuck? ;D

I am well-aware. However, Chuck Norris simply hasn't submitted his far greater score, because many people foolishly believed that his score exceeded the limitations of the game.

Chuck couldn't track his score as it was scrolling too fast and that the game crashed as an overflow.

Or maybe he didn't submit it because everybody should know his score is far too high to ever be beaten, and he wanted to give the stupid people who didn't know some hope...

Would like to play FFIII... even though it's a remake, the story, as well as the introduce of the summons is attractive.

A translation was done of the original , if you think it would be worth it to try the original first. It's an awesome game!

I'm not sure if I can handle the NES graphics/sound for how long? If there is an emu around which uses some sound presets, I could give it a try.

My fav has always been FFT ... sadly its not on the list, second would be FF3 which finally is being released for the DS ... Now I have no need for translations woo hoo. I guess the third best FF is definately FF7 for its intense storyline and fun bosses. Ahh I still remember the day I beat Ruby and Emerald although Ruby was too easy and no I didnt start the battle with 2 chars dead . Counter Attack + Mime works wonders. FF3 gets my vote

MotM: If you're looking for an emulator that is highly customizable, try using FakeNES. I've been messing around with the options (I just got it... I always used Nestopia myself), and there are a TON of options to customize with video and sound. Especially sound. The sound filters can be run at the same time, which is awesome. I recommend the Delta-Sigma Filter and one of the low-pass filters. But you should see for yourself. It seems to handle very well, and I think I'll probably be switching over to it myself, since I love being able to customize. Oh, and a word of advice when using it: don't mess with the Video -> Driver options unless you absolutely have to. When I tried, it crashed (only problem I've had so far), and there really isn't any point to changing it anyway.

Looks interesting, I'm gonna try it now.
Thanks r4zi3l and Gamesoul Master!
EDIT: ips files don't seem to work on nestopia, and fakenes doesn't seem to support them... help!
EDIT: nvm found a translated FF3... works best on nestopia too, I encountered bugs in the beginning already when using fakenes.
I don't think I can keep up any longer now that I've entered the first town, ugh!
