I can see it now....a ps3 commercial....A fat scottish man (maybe fat bastard) pointing and laughing at someone holding a wii near his crotch, saying (in a thick scottish accent) "My what a wee wii you've got there" Or, "I've got to take a wee" and pissing all over the wii. Well, maybe the latter is not commercial material ;D I can't get over that stupid name. When marketing people try to hard. Or maybe someone was under the gun and had a deadline and just threw jibberish on the table knowing he was going to get fired for it, but too many executives actually liked it. The revolution just sounded soooo much better. It made me want to try the tv/remote controller thing-a-ma-boobby. Now I really want to get a ps3 instead. Yes it sounds really shallow, but unfortunately for Nintendo, there are a lot of shallow people like me out there. I want a tough machine. Not a little wee wii. Perhaps it's a craftier marketing ploy than we realise: after all, in a few months, their name will be on everyone's lips. No-one will be going to the john, pointing percy at the porcelain, taking a leak, etc. Everyone, but everyone will be taking a Nintendo... ;-D

I'd buy them all, but I'm friggin poor =( So I guess I'll take a Wii since it's probably gonna be cheap.

I guess I'll have to take Nintendo's Wii FTW!!!!
I can't wait to mess around with the motion sensor on that.....
BTW, why would you guys wanna buy the PS3 when Sony is gonna put copy protection so tight that you can't rent games or buy them used....
I mean, I was thinking of getting a PS3 as well, but now that they're gonna do that, I'm out.......

Indeed. On a semi-related note, the Nintendo Wii's $250.

That's been proven to be just a rumor. I thought the same thing for a while. That rumor sounds like nothing more than bs from a Sony-hater or something. No company in their right mind would do something like that - and yeah, that means Microsoft would.

Microsoft hater! xP
I wonder, though... Sony's done some really odd things in the past, so their track record isn't exactly "clean" enough to rule that out. The whole DRM fiasco only shows how far they'd go to protect their property. The way I see it, although very unlikely, they might have actually planned that, and then retracted the plan after seeing the backlash. But again, that's a very unlikely scenario.

That's been proven to be just a rumor. I thought the same thing for a while. Ah, I didn't hear that it was dispelled as a rumor..... Thanks for correcting me...... That's exactly what I thought when I first heard the news about that....... And, them retracting an idea about copy protection isn't that extraordinary, I mean, they did retract their special CD copy protection after they revealed that the copy protection was basically high-level spyware..... Anyways, I'm still picking the Wii, but I'm still holding out for a cheaper PS3 (maybe $100). BTW, did you hear that a poll by Famitsu showed that 85% of Japanese gamers were looking forward to buying the Wii, and 80% believed that the PS3 was too expensive? That knowledge certainly made me happy, being a little crazy about the Wii myself. ;D

I know the damn thing is expensive because of the Blu-Ray Technology (which makes the PS3 an outrageously good deal), but I don't see any need for Blu-Ray Technology in this decade. I will eventually get a PS3 (probably after it's gone through a couple price drops), and I'll probably eventually get a Wii, too (when I see some games released for it I'd actually want to play, besides Zelda). XBox 360...? Never. And I don't say that because I hate Microsoft as a company (which I do). Sony's copy-protection intentions? Has anybody noticed Microsoft with their "Genuine Windows Validation" crap that's negatively affecting people who *do* have a valid copy?!? I know that has nothing to do with gaming, but it bugs the hell out of me. Makes me hate Microsoft even more than the last time they gave me reason to hate them (releasing a video game system). Oh, and buying Rare wasn't cool. And that new Shadowrun game they're releasing after buying FASA a few years ago. Their Shadowrun game isn't even going to be set in Shadowrun's (the actual pen-and-paper) timeframe! Play the Genesis game and you'll see what a real Shadowrun game should be like. Don't get me wrong... I have major tiffs with all three companies. But they are also the reason I can play all these wonderful games that come out. It's just that Microsoft is at the top of the list right now of "most reasons to hate". My first choice, though? PS3. Playstation has never done me wrong with the games that come out for it. RPG's are my main interest, so because of that the choice is a no-brainer. Playstation systems always have the most/best RPG's.

At the very least, Final Fantasy XIII might come out for 360, last I heard. Blu-Ray's already looking down, as there seems to be problems with it, and Cell as well (or at least that's what I've seen on some news sites). There also seems to be problems within Sony as to what the PS3 really is (gaming system? entertainment system?). Dunno, Sony's looking really bad at the moment.

I think it's pretty obvious that M$ are planning a future whereby they lease rather than sell their operating systems, hoshikuzu. This will mean that a) you'll have no inherent right to keep using the software beyond its 'sell-by' date and b) you'll have to upgrade whenever they decide you should, i.e. when they feel the need to generate some more revenue, rather than when they have something new to offer.
