@gm: Hum - in the RADEON OMEGA DRIVERS F.A.Q. it says Think I'm going to have to try Kega Fusion, though - well, at least I've never used a USB connection for internet access, always ethernet, so no problem there!

Yeah, I always access the internet through Ethernet. This WiFi Max was set up as an access point, not as a receiver. Fusion is the greatest, as long as you get those plugins (though it's great even without them).
On topic... I noticed the Snes9x team sort-of gave up on doing more ports to Windows. Really unfortunate, seeing v1.50 released on nearly everything *except* Windows. Quite rare to see something like that too (but not unheard of, I should add, before any of you think you can make some kind of point against me by naming some other piece of software that went the same way...). Not that I ever really use Snes9x. Some silly little thing like a different style of GUI could never keep me away from ZSNES, with it's better compatibility, features, and enhancements.
I would've really liked to have seen a newer version of rew (the Gameboy/Gameboy Color/NES emulator). It's so hard to find, but it runs games much the same way pSX does... very simply, and with very few enhancements. Definitely the best emulator by far for anybody with a really old computer (I'm talking P1 and older) who wants to play GB/NES games. I found it at some old, backwater site, and I've never seen it at any of the emulation sites I've been too. Actually, if anybody wants it... let me know, and I'll upload it.
The devs on ZSNES have been somewhat quiet lately, but it's good to know that when the next official release comes out, it's gonna be big (the things they mentioned would be in it, makes me certain that it'll blow Snes9x out of the water).
It just seems odd though, that the scene took such a dive in the last year or two. Older or newer consoles/handhelds, it didn't matter. It just seemed like most emulation projects died. Including, of course, hacking and translation projects. You can still find a bunch of active ones, but probably only about 10% of what was going on 2 years ago. Simply astounding...

Well with the last WIP having been released after pSX's last release, I wouldn't really say ZSNES development has been all that quiet (unless you consider pSX development to be quiet )

I know it's shallow to judge a book by it's cover so I'll try to use ZSNES more often. I have it on my computer but I use Snes9x more. I know it's better than Snes9x but like I said before, it's just hard to get used to. There are a lot of emulators that I turned away from just because I judged them by how they look, but once I start using them more, I learned to appreciate them for the other things that really matter more like compatibility. It's just annoying to get used to how things are in those types of programs. Like how Nesticle was. Didn't they have a testicle as a mouse pointer or something? The mouse pointer moves differently than how I set it up for the regular Windows mouse pointer and it just gets aggrivating trying to manuever that thing. I just wonder why they don't do it the old fashioned way, I guess they just want to be different which is understandable. I kind of shyed away from Kega at first because I was such a Gens fanboy a while back but I finally decided to check it out and was blown away.
I agree that the emulation scene has had a dramatic decrease in the last year or two. Which is sad because different emulation sites are really the main things I go onto when I get online. Of course I go to other sites on the internet, but emulation is my main thing. I think that PCSX2 is the main thing keeping the scene alive atm. Have you seen the amount of traffic on Ngemu in the last few weeks when they released 0.92? It was crazy. You could barely go 2 seconds without seeing a server problem message. Also, the grandfather of emulation sites, Zophar's Domain, hasn't been updated in a while also (though the main page has been updated recently talking about ZD being around for 10 years, but nothing major). I hope it isn't a sign of where emulation is going.
I had a question though. Is there a good original Gameboy link emulator out there so I could battle my little bro in the old Pokemon games? I personally don't like Pokemon but he just really wants to play against me. The only one I found that was really good was TGB Dual but it doesn't let you import battery saves and the last version was in Japenese. I had an older English version but I was wondering if there were any alternatives?

Ultima: The WIP's are not official... not done by the official ZSNES team, though they are still good. I think it might be done by one of the ZSNES team members, but it's not considered official, since it is being done independant of the main project. TheCloudOfSmoke: Zophar's Domain was always a favorite of mine, up till about 6 months ago when I realized that there really weren't gonna be much of any more updates. I was just there again today... still an awesome site, one that I still check here and there for things I haven't got yet (which isn't much anymore... XD). Emulation sites... always the main thing I look through online. Would you and your brother be using the same computer or a different computer? bgb has great linking options with other computers. GEST allows the use of two gameboys running two different games at the same time (use Controller 2 for the second one if you couldn't guess that already)... gonna test right now how it is with linking them. Be back with results in about 15 minutes... It'd be great to test and all, but... I can't get the second game to load a game. Not a thing. The second gameboy basically acts like there is no save file at all. Even if I run the same game, the first one will load a game, but the second won't. Searching for other emulators now...
TGB Dual would work just fine, but... it has the same exact problem as GEST... the second game won't load a saved game. The first one will though... somebody care to shed some light on this? Why would two different emulators have the same exact problem...?

We'll be using the same computer. TGB Dual is great but it doesn't have support for .zip files which means that I have to go through and unzip all of the games that I want to play before I play them. It's not hard, but it's inconveniencing. Plus it seems that the options are more geared toward the first player like you said. Good old Zophar's is still a great resource for all of my emulation needs. I always go there for the same reason as you, just to check out what I haven't tried before. When there's something new that I want to try out, I go straight to Zophar's. EDIT: I remember trying bgb earlier today after I found it on Zophar's but it doesn't have an option to play against others on the same computer. Bummer .

@gamesoul Master: Though unofficial, ipher still grabs the source directly from the ZSNES CVS resopsitory ( not independent of the main project), so the fact that every WIP build packs in a LOT of progress seems very unquiet to me Anyhow, Nach said the official version is likely to be out somewhere this month, so the storm's coming soon And yeah, I really liked Zophar's Domain, and have continued to visit it *pretty much* daily, even though the site was entirely without updates for months at a time. From the main page, it appears to me like they're not interested in updating anymore, and I find that kinda sad (the site being one of my favorites and all). Has anyone ever tried KiGB? I haven't messed with GB emulation in the longest time, but for some reason, I keep having KiGB on the back of my mind as being a great GB emulator ;o

Thanks GM! Gest is exactly what I was looking for! I was trying to find out a way to import battery saves that were created from the Pokemon games in VBA (that's the only thing that I could use to transfer saves between different emulators since battery saves are universal between emulators that have support for them, save states are emulator specific). He had a whole bunch of Pokemans that he wanted to battle with. Now we can use them without starting from scratch. I guess since I started using the VBA, I've never had the need for another GB emulator until now. I forgot that the VBA isn't perfect and doesn't emulate everything. Thanks again. Ultima: I just tried it and it's a pretty good emulator. I especially like the simulated colors of the original Gameboy's screen. It's really accurate. Also, that demo on the download page is simply amazing! I don't know why actual developers of GB games never pushed the GB as much as they could have. EDIT: I found another emulator that supports the plugin system utilized in Kega Fusion. It's an unnoficial build of the VBA called VBA Smooth but it has been discontinued (so it's still on topic ) I've heard about it before but never tried it out until now. Damn, all of the good emulators are just dropping like flies. It's really sad that the VBA and all of its unnoficial builds have pretty much died out. www.emulation64.com/files/info/645/
