I found a faq for firefox32. ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202537&highlight=JavaIt seem it for firefox32 only. ================Bellow. All you need is jre-6u1-linux-i586.bin only. Nothing else. Try this first. Ok if that didn't work then. Go this way. This is how I got it to work because ubuntu 7.04 doesn't have firefox32. It only have firefox instead. sudo rm -rfd /usr/lib/java cd ~/Desktop sudo bash chmod 777 ./jre-6u1-linux-i586.bin ./jre-6u1-linux-i586.bin mkdir /usr/local/java cp -r -p ./jre1.6.0_01/* /usr/local/java cd /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ ln -s /usr/local/java/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so ./ sudo chown -R mitchell:users /home/mitchell/.java <- Doesn't really needed? Try it anyway. If error then don't worry about this. sudo chown -R mitchell:users /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/ Be sure edit out my name and put your name instead. sudo rm -rfd /home/mitchell/Desktop/jre1.6.0_01 <- Remove those extra files. Don't need those anymore. www.wildsnake.com/webgame/sso/ <- Test to see java run or not.

'firefox32' is just the regular 32 bit Firefox, kinghanco. It's installed by default in 32 bit Feisty, and from the pSX packages you were trying to download from dfreer's repository, that's what you're using: On the other hand, if you are using the 64 bit version, that might explain some of the problems you've been having - firstly, dfreer has pSX versions for 64 bit and that's what you should have used. I don't know whether NTFS write support differs in 32 bit and 64 bit Feisty, but it's not unlikely. Ah, see your screenshot here: It says the ntfs-3g driver is for 32 bit. Perhaps you need to check out 64 bit NTFS access if you are using Feisty 64 bit.

If you had installed Linux Mint you wouldn't have to go through any of this.
It has working Java, Flash, PDF plug-in, NTFS read/write support and other things that you have to install manually on most Linux distros.
Try playing an MP3 on your Ubuntu..

Oh I can play mp3 on Movie Player.
You mean that Linux Mint is better than ubuntu?
I wonder why everyone thinks ubuntu is better than anything else? lol
=================================================
Ok I'm downloading LinuxMint 3.0 Cassandra FULL right now and then try it out.

Linux Mint is basically Ubuntu.
The main reason why I prefer Mint is that it comes with all those things installed that you're going to install anyway, like Flash, Sun Java, DVD decoder, NTFS read/write support and so on etc etc. And it's already set up to get updates for these things as well.
It also comes with a script to install the latest Nvidia driver, which greatly simplifies things - you only have to activate the script from the command prompt, then it downloads the driver, recompiles the kernel and whatever else it has to do, reboots and the driver is installed. I went through hell trying to install it manually on Fedora and Ubuntu 64-bit.
As our good friend here has discovered it's not that simple with Ubuntu.
Mint is just less of a hassle that's all. Plus I liked the looks too.

Ah, but Mint isn't _exactly_ Ubuntu. Therefore you're much better placed to troubleshoot Mint than me! Anyway, kinghanco is still asking questions about Ubuntu. Possibly he hasn't switched yet...

NTFS 3G is working great and I have no problem with both hard drives now.
Linux Mint Rocks!
Ubuntu is banned from my machine. I'm no longer using it.
Ati driver is working great too.

Haha. Back when I had my dualboot system I was using Suse. I went through a bunch of distros and their different incarnations (ubuntu, kubuntu, fedora, debian, ark, etc etc) while looking for the right one for me. And ended up with Suse. Though by the looks of things, Mint looks pretty awesome with very little hassle about all the usual stuff. Have to remember to try that whenever I get the chance.

Neat getout, Sune! But I've _never_ used Mint Linux at _all_, so you're elected!

Suse isn't free as far I know.
openSUSE - I couldn't get it install. I gave up on this while back.
The only problem that I have on ATI graphics driver is the lagging speed on Doom 3 and Quake 4 MP-Demo. So I got rid of the ATI graphics driver and then install the ATI graphics driver that ubuntu have. ATI graphics driver that ubuntu have is much better than the official ATI graphics driver. Maybe it have something to do with that ATI graphics driver option that have extra stuff that I really didn't need.

Darn it. Look like ATI graphics driver are buggy that ubuntu have. I can't use it if the screen is higher than 1024x768. I had to got back and use the official one. Is everything is correct? # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)

This is a Sony 5:4 screen. Ok I got the speed fast now. I had to use lower graphics and under 800x600 to speed things up on Doom 3 and Quake 4 MP-Demo. Those works a lot better on XP with higher graphics and over 800x600. I can play Alien Arena 2007, SFE-Standalone, Warsow and World of Padman just fine in 1280x1024 with max graphics.
