Huh? I post it above. OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc. OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9550/X1050 Series OpenGL version string: 2.0.6334 (8.34.8) direct rendering: Yes Whoops those games play normal speed on XP at 800x600 with High graphics setting. I tested those and those runs much better. When I get a faster computer then I can go higher and I be able to play those on Linux with full speed.

Ah, with all the mucking about you were doing, kinghanco, I wasn't sure if you were still using the 8.34.8 fglrx driver. Seems like we're stuck with that one for now...

I just want to add that Doom III and Quake 4 were both running absolutely flawlessly here when I had Mint installed.

Well I don't think that I can use Geforce 7600GT on my motherboard. Is it a AGP card or what ever it call? Is it faster and stable card?

Yes it's an AGP board. It's the Leadtek A7600 GT TDH.
They make another one based on the 7600 design but with slower memory. Be careful you don't buy the wrong one.
I'm very very happy with this card.
The best 7600-based AGP card is the Gainward 'goes like hell' or 'golden sample' or whatever it was called. It's insanely fast and has 512MB GDDR3 memory. But that was way outside my price range!
My 6800 GT was damaged in a vacuum cleaner accident. Pretty nasty stuff. It still works but likes to put multicolored dots and polygon spikes on things..
I won't get into recommending Nvidia cards vs. ATI, because I really don't know anything about ATI cards. I'm sure they have some pretty spiffy last-generation AGP cards as well.

Hey, did you buy that 7600 around here, Sune...? If so, would you mind telling me how much R$ did it cost?

Good lord no...I bought it on Amazon and had it shipped to my mother in law's boyfriend in New Jersey!
She brought it here for me last time she visited him, along with a X-fi Xtrememusic, 250 GB S-ATA HDD, 10m component video cable and other assorted goodies!
As long as you keep it below 500 USD, the alfandega leaves you alone.
So far the nicest Informática stores I've found here in BH are WAZ in Santa Efigenia and Universal Micro on Rua Curitiba....the prices still suck though.
Unfortunately my funds have run dry, otherwise I would go on another buying spree in October when her boyfriend comes to visit.
I'm considering having him bring me a PS3 and then trade it in for a Variant 1600.
;D

Good lord no...I bought it on Amazon and had it shipped to my mother in law's boyfriend in New Jersey! Ahh, I was expecting some sort of "workaround"... heh So far the nicest Informática stores I've found here in BH are WAZ in Santa Efigenia and Universal Micro on Rua Curitiba....the prices still suck though. Indeed... I don't live in MG but I have relatives living there; the average prices of computer-related stuff are not that good indeed. I mean, reasonable prices are only likely to show up in São Paulo, in this country... so yeah, it sucks. Unfortunately my funds have run dry, otherwise I would go on another buying spree in October when her boyfriend comes to visit. I'm considering having him bring me a PS3 and then trade it in for a Variant 1600. ;D I guess you'd still benefit from the exchange... ;D

Depends how you've installed the fglrx driver, kinghanco.
